seriously, it sucks.
My friends and I used to launch warthogs across blood gulch for countless hours. The Halo CE engine was fun because it wasn't full of unecessary -blam!- and had a lot less glitches.
What's so great about the Havok engine? Absolutely nothing, seriously all we got was shiny cenimas and crappy vehicles. Who cares? Throw that garbage away. Wow, I can move a box and explode a crate. Too bad it added nothing to the gameplay.
I can only imagine what we could of had if Bungie updated the old engine for three years. Holy -blam!- would that be a game! A bajillion maps, new weapons. Oh, and all you whiners about DLC would be choking on all content Bungie could spit out.
Oh well......
-
do you know the difference between a physics engine and a graphics engine? cause you obviously dont considering you said the havok engine made the game look bad.....oh well i like the new physics its fun to watch your body react to the environment after you die.
-
First of all, I don't have Live. Second, I haven't read the "Havok article" (kinda looked through it, never actually read it). I just saw it up on Bungie's site praising it. I don't claim to know everything about it. I do know however, that it ruined Halo 2. Why else does this game look and play like -blam!-? Because of the unecessary changes. Changes brought about from the new engine. So back to the topic, what's so great about the new engine?
-
Leave him be he obviously cant tell the difference between the graphic engine and the physics engine and we all know he hates Halo 2 just look at his signature [Edited on 3/7/2005 5:59:39 PM]

seriously, this guy probably just got owned on XBL and is depressed so he decided to come and deface is .net account on the Bungie forums. Let me add to the topic: You're wrong. even though you have your opinions... your still wrong. in fact, I respect Halo 2 haters with valid points more than you. You act like Havok is the ENGINE for Halo, when in fact it is a middleware program that calculates physical properties for certain parts of geometry . Havok has NOTHING to do with how shiney Master Chief's visor is. You seem to think that you know everything because bungie released this two page article on how they used Havok . When in fact, you have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that you know close to nothing. oh, and by the way, the Halo2 engine IS an update of the original. [Edited on 3/7/2005 6:00:19 PM]

The Havok engine is a lot better than whatever Halo: Combat Evolved used. I mean finally one frag grenade can't launch a person in a Warthog over my head, turn over, and keep turning for 50 feet, and then get back on the warthogs feet and grab the flag and get away with it. Now when I throw I grenade it lowers the dudes shield, slows him down, and lets me shoot him, instead of him sliding farther, and farther away/

The topic is actually very simple. Maybe it's your comprehension. People think they are so witty because they can point out misspellings on the internet but of course they don't realize it's the most pointless thing one can do in their entire life. Most forums are full of these bastards who just read to find errors in your grammar and if your ideas don't match theirs they will simply state that you are an idiot simply because of a miniscule detail. I'll read something on a forum which I understand completely but is full of errors. Then some bastard will flame him not realizing he is from another country and actually doing very well with his english. People don't want to waste their time writing perfectly, especially on a forum congested as this one. You are wasting even more time correcting me. The internet is full of text and it is a english teachers nightmare. people have no idea what I'm talking about because the above is full of misspellings.
Posted by: dlm Because we have no idea what the topic is. Your grammar and sentence construction are so terrible that I have no clue what you're even complaining about.
:-)

past tense usually means I'm referring to the old CE engine. why don't you people actually try contributing to the topic. let's hear some your opinions/arguments on the new crappy new engine instead of condoms.

bad idea that Shiska can blacklist you

Create content...for an engine...experience with something already produced...? Do you even know what you're talking about, or did you just accidentally grab a dictionary and pull random words out?

Havok is a highly extensible, highly versitile physics engine. It has its advantages and disadvantages, but it's the best unified system out there for doing realtime physics, period. It's pretty much an industry standard for games now to do physics with Havok. You don't know what the hell you're talking about, so why don't you stop pretending that you do?
Posted by: OuterHeaven_X exploding boxes does nothing to gameplay? (plus anyone standing around at the time)
*remembers that triple kill from a few days back* i've seen people still sending the warthogs flying, so what are you complaining about?

ahem, let me clear my throat. HAVOK IS A PHYSICS/RESPONSE ENGINE, NOT A VISUAL CORE ENGINE that means that havok has nothing to do with graphics. Havok has something to do with physics. [Edited on 3/7/2005 4:38:20 PM]

i like the new warthog driving- it takes skillz. frankly, i'm a pretty good e-brake user, but think realisticly- how hard would it be to splatter a super soldier with armor and energy shields, who can leap 5 feeet in the air? pretty damn hard. the warthog is more like a car now, rather than a hovercraft with wheels. and i didn't know you can swing the gondolas in delta halo... are you for real? Wow, I can move a box and explode a crate. Too bad it added nothing to the gameplay.
Damn it, I've lost my allergy pills (for ignorance on internet forums), so I think I'll just have to rebutt such a brilliant argument. T he Havok engine has merit, and attaches realistic physics to objects in Halo 2. What exactly does Havok have to do with "Shiny cenimas" (Enemas?...ask your mom.) Havok is middleware, and it does it's job extraordinarily well. I was very excited when I saw all the gameplay options available in Halo 2, boxed up doors, fusion cores around flag captures, floating and suspended objects that actually had purpose. I must have sat their for ten minutes when I realized that by shifting my weight on the gondolas in Delta Halo actually made them swing, and I was even more amazed when eight of my friends stood on the Midship platform, and it sank down to the bottom. Havok allows for these kind of things, and you should be floored at the physic displayed in Halo 2.

i have to agree that the original engine for halo was better, the first thing i noticed on halo 2 was how stiff the warthog and tank drove i mean on flat ground u can see where the tank catches so it hops a lil bit. O well game is sick end of story

Yeah, go make a game engine and we'll all see how yours will be great. Wait...the Warthog is flying...??? [Edited on 3/7/2005 4:12:50 PM]
