I honestly don't think bungie can physically do it. Look at the weekly strike - they would of known people would rather solo it but made it forced. No part of the game has optional matchmaking, it's either there or not. Makes me think something in the coding structure doesn't allow options without collapsing the entire thing.

And since the game resides on your hard disk and not on a read only disc, I don't see any reason why they couldn't make a change to allow the most basic of optional matchmaking. The code exists for mm or not, they just need to add some additional logic to detect something like "if this button was pressed to start mission, run matchmaking routine. If this button was pressed to start mission, run no mm routine". No extra menus even required. Sure maybe it wouldn't give us all the options that we might like, but it would be a step in the right direction.

Thats a good point J but only if your on the next gen console. If you play destiny on the 360 you dont have to install it loike you do on the xbox one (like you do with every game on the xbox one)

Edited by J of Core: 5/28/2015 6:30:48 AMHmm that's true I didn't think that last gen was running off dISC. I was assuming that it was a forced install a LA gta5 on 360. Even if its not a full install to disk, I think it still copies some large chunks of the game to HD (I don't knw for sure tho since I only have it for xone). Even so, they still have pretty good ability to change things in the game, evidenced by some of the patches (including ui changes like the rep drop down menu, etc), so it seems like they can do quite a bit through patching. But I could be wrong :)

I agree with you 100%, but I feel that bungie doesn't not see the cost vs benefit as worth it yet. Hopefully it changes soon, I'd love a LFG in the game itself where you can set your own filters to find groups.. And I know the coding for that isn't overly difficult.
