PoE difficult for the wrong reasons

It's retarded how hard some of the bosses are in PoE. They are not difficult because they require strategy and thinking. They are difficult from the endless majors and op weapons the enemies are given. And to add insult to injury you can't leave and come back later. If you quit you have to start all over. I'm really starting to regret buying this dlc already.

  • couldn't agree with you more. i honestly am sitting in skolas as we speak, just waiting in the stupid airlock for cooldowns. this isn't fun at all. i think this was just a pvp dlc, which is kind of a letdown, because i was really looking forward to it being both. oh well, trials is tomorrow i guess

The enemies are one level above cap. Fallen enemies weapons do arc except for skolas and captains. The adds bullets track around corners and can get you they always seem to know where you are regardless of invisibility. clearing out the adds is a fools errand they respawn forever and are not tied to boss health but is most likey on some -blam!-ing timer. The servitor pieces of shit run and hide in the center of the map surrounded by a sea of bullshit breaking skolas bond on the first dps phase is a must. The mines do nothing but allow you to stand out in the open like a sitting duck while adds pelt you and kill you in 1.5 seconds and good luck trying a cross map defuse on a mine even as a hunter it's not enough . Oh and the taint is just more bullshit to worry about. I was up until 2 am yesterday and 12 am last night trying kill skolas and I did and I never want to do it again until bungie seriously re thinks whats a challenge whats and whats just -blam!-ing cheap bullshit because as the op said this hard for the wrong reasons.

    • Add insult to injury, he barely drops elemental primaries. like the hell is up with that? Crota and Atheon always dropped something but this is ridiculous when you beat him after all the easy cheesing the guardians him and his adds get. The arc burn, poison, dismantling mines, killing dumb servitors, and him blasting you with a scorch cannon, oh one more level over you that you can't obtain, and no checkpoint......like all you get is 1 etheric light, armor and weapon core that might return armor or a weapon(worse, a non elemental primary), a .02% chance of getting an elemental primary( could even have shit perks like dreg burn or shank burn) It took us 3 hours to beat him with our maxed out 365 arc snipers. We killed him twice before but we were unlucky with the distance of mines. What did we get for our struggle? none of us got a elemental primary. Its insane how our invisible hunter gets killed even though he was invisible. I tried dismantling a mine myself and like no matter what I do, theres always a freaking vandal, dreg or something that shoots arc at me from every corner of the mine. I did it on one character and I'm done with poe lv35 for the week. Not worth the effort.

    • Did lvl 34 in two tries yesterday and did 35 in four tries. It takes a good team with a plan and communication to win in a very team oriented activity. Call out when to shift sides on the Skolas battle, use grenades that chain targets on the tightly packed enemies, make sure that you're on a decent number before switching the devouring essence over to another team mate. Kill the eyes of Qodron to prevent wipes. Utilize the power of your exotics, the ram helmet can gain you life steal on the detainment bubble. Saint-14 prevents minotaur melee rushes, the celestial nighthawk can destroy bubbles if you all huddle and stack them combined with shotguns it makes work of them. After doing all of them two weeks in a row now, it all depends on the team you pick up, not everyone can be a Rambo and expect to live. Team work It's the best weapon in the game.

      • It started to feel this way when they made enemies a level higher than us for endgame. I didn't mind the crazy amount of enemies or the effort it took to kill them. The only thing that bothered me in this game is how easy it became to die. They made it possible for almost anything in this game to one shot you. This put the emphasis in endgame to running and surviving rather than killing being badass. In my opinion they just need to balance these encounters more to make us feel powerful, while still being difficult.

        • What type of mechanics could they add? In the end, it's still a first person shooter. The goal is to shoot enemies. It appears they will make it easier by having specific PoE armor and weapon perks, so players will equip different armor in each round. With the PoE perks, properly tuned gear will make things easier in the coming weeks. I for one likely won't be doing much 34 or 35 PoE until I'm more geared, because I have to budget my limited play time efficiently. I do agree about the lack of checkpoints. I understand why there aren't any but it does make it unforgiving for those of us who can't necessarily play for more than 2-3 hours in one sitting. I definitely feel as if I get a lot less accomplished in one night than I did when raiding VoG and CE.

              • Can someone provide an example of an fps game with bosses that doesnt require shooting them at some point? In the end, and fps is about shooting things, especially Destiny. I really cant think of what else Bungie is supposed to do. If anything, I think Bungie were quite creative with their boss design. The relic, the sword, the containment fields poison effects, ground burns, oversouls, times vengeance...

                • Its not that they are more difficult. PoE just doesnt allow for less than great players to be carried like in the raids. In PoE, the entire team must pull their own weight.

                  • With only a fireteam of three, poe35 at this point just about requires that everyone have a gjallarhorn. Unfortunately I dont. Beating a lvl shouldnt be based on having a specific weapon that you get from RNG.

                    • The 34 Vex boss this week is ridiculous. You have to find a goblin major that's slightly different and kill him. If you don't kill him in time your party wipes. We spend all the time searching and not enough shooting the actual boss. If only they had made it an oracle, something obvious. Oh well... I still beat it all three times.

                        • With all do respect, and I do mean all respect. The PoE really isn't that hard. At the end of the day it does boil down to teamwork and strategy, coupled with skill to run those strategies. Maybe I just have solid friends to play with. Idk.

                        • The Skolas fight is a bit of a strategy but then....
'aw shit what else you got?' 'We could always make it lvl 35' 'So we get to go home early? I'm all for it!'
And that's how that happened.

                            • Did the level 32 Urrox last night and all went fine until the Urrox battle. The insane amount of yellow bar acolytes, knights and wizards bombing is bad enough but then every minute or so (at least that's how it felt) he would rage and you couldn't be on the floor for 10 seconds or you catch fire and die so you have to jump around like a mad man avoiding the constant hail of arc damage and void eye blasts from the ogres all the while hoping not to land in a pack of thrall, or worse yet exploding thrall. Granted, none of us had done this one before so we were figuring it out as we went along but I found it annoying that you are spending more time bouncing around trying to avoid the floor and the fireworks from the adds than actually trying to thin out the adds and take on the boss. Once we figured out a strategy we did okay and eventually completed it but I'm disappointed that it is less about strategy and more about simply trying to avoid taking damage during one of Bungie's gimmicky "let's make life harder than it already is" elements that the game has. Of course, having said all that, VoG and CE were hard at one point as well until the strategies got figured out.

                              • Qodron isn't too hard, just have one member keep an eye out for the dude and when it says he's seeking targets, kill the dude and u will get jail breaker which will give one of u a damage buff against the shield, make sure ur using shotguns too, it makes taking out the shield easier. Also group up so the jailbreaker can get u out of the shield at the same time. it's more of a grind than anything but not too tough if ur loaded out correctly. Skolas on the other hand is extremely difficult this week, took my team 6 hours to do it. As a reward tho I got a void primary and the exotic bounty. The auto rifle is on my Titan atm.

I'm 30 yrs of age, and no checkpoints at this point and age is a huge step back into the dark ages. You kids don't remember leavin a sega or Nintendo on all day cuz you had to leave out with your family for the day. I'm talkin full on prayin that the power don't go out, or, if ya had a pet, it didn't bump the console and freeze the game. THIS is where we have reverted back to people, with no checkpoints in PoE.

I see fire team members getting two-shot by vandals on a non arc burn nf strike but it takes nearly a whole clip using a 365 P&T to down one of them, landing all head shots mind you.

                                  • If you haven't realized yet how Bungie "improves" our gaming experience, then you are quite the naive one. Instead of making new and creative bosses to strategize over... we are given... bosses with more hitpoints, faster shield recharge, swapping shield resist types... not to mention slow down traps or curses... or just throwing in more of everything that spawn quicker... or how about tossing in a shrieker so we don't stand in that safe area. it's a joke. It speaks of bad game design. Instead of proper fixes and creating new interesting concepts... Bungie finds the easiest method to make it harder. It's a joke.
