Standard matchmaking like they added to the weekly would be a horrible idea for all the activities you mentioned.
Raids: LFG groups fail all the time, people go afk, etc. Now, imagine how bad that would be without a clear leader to boot people who don't communicate and don't follow a plan. How bad it would be when people quit on the last boss.
Trials: We went something like 49-4 last weekend in trials. Now just imagine us going up against match made teams. It would be neither fun for us or the random team. The Lighthouse is already way easier to get to and way more rewarding than the lvl 35 PoE.

I've run hundreds and had exactly one fail ever and they're so much more involved than Destiny's. You actually just made the case for matchmaking. "LFG groups fail all the time... How bad would (matchmaking) be when people quit on the last boss?" Well, in matchmaking you'd be able to queue for a replacement. LFG you're stuck seeing if friends are on or going and sitting on a forum. [quote]Trials: We went something like 49-4 last weekend in trials. Now just imagine us going up against match made teams. At least with matchmaking, you could make them meet requirements for entry. And again if it's optional in raids, how does that affect you if you don't want to use it?

From what I've heard, they had to dumb down the raids significantly in WoW to put in matchmaking. Besides, I'm pretty sure WoW's matchmaking is way more involved and sophisticated than destiny's. I'm for clan integration and better grouping solution that are in game but standard ass matchmaking? Horrible idea

Did you ever play WoW? They lowered boss health a bit, but they didn't make it a cakewalk. Even the lfr raids were 100x harder than either of these. If you didn't have to sit and wait for Crota to run up and stare at you, you could down him in HM in under a minute. Woo hoo, big challenge. Better recruit all 34s with big Gjallys.

I think you are overestimating the Destiny player base. You should go play a few weeklies and see how most people don't know what a burn is or don't have a clue what the specialist modifier does. I come out of most match made weeklies with twice the kills of both my teammates combined.
-
I play 3 weeklies every week and I've had 1 bad group ever. We're all playing because we're fans of the game. Also, you know we can see your PvE stats, right?
-
What? Now I don't know what I'm talking about because I only did 100+ raids across 3 lvl 34 characters?
-
I saw your 3 level 34s and I looked at your strike stats on your Lock. Your highest kill total was like 135 and you were second in that strike. I'm not calling you bad, I'm sure you're really good, but I didn't see stats that show you outperforming the average player. I just don't like the whole "I hate carrying people attitude". When I go into a strike, I look at it as competition and try to get the most kills. If you're killing the most stuff, aren't you having the most fun?

Edited by pyrodactyl1991: 5/28/2015 10:21:28 PMI am not complaining at all. Weeklies are so easy I could solo them just as well. Just saying I wouldn't want to raid with half the people I ran match made weeklies with. Also keep in mind, my main is my hunter and I run most weeklies and nightfall with my clansmate which are quite good.
-
But you have no idea how they'd be in a raid. You're right, weeklies are easy and we just run roughshod through them. That doesn't mean that people won't be capable in more difficult content.

Optional matchmaking though.... Agreed standard mandatory matchmaking would be bad. We are arguing for players to have the choice whether or not they can join/accept matchmade peers.
