Evolve?! You mean that game I vaguely remember playing for an hour before losing total interest? Yeah, whatever DID happen to that game?!

  •
that game I vaguely remember playing for an hour
Well there's you're problem right there, you never gave it a chance to begin with. I know it's got a learning curve, but there's more to PvP shooters than just aim>shoot>repeat. For a small developer like TRS, it's good to see them taking a step away from the generic Halo/CoD clone shooters.

Well I'm not that much of an FPS fan, so don't play many. I haven't played COD in years and was done with halo after halo4, though I liked borderlands up to a point, so I'd be keen on any new spin on a tired genre It's just that evolve simply didn't click for me, it got tired very quick. There's just not much really there

Wait, so you're trying to diss a game for not keeping your attention when the genre in general isn't to your liking?

Only because I've played alot of them over the years, and in general I've seen the genre stagnate. So I'm always interested in an FPS that's doing something new and interesting Evolve had a good premise, but it was just too shallow and samey - even the different areas were samey and you could see it was easy to follow a particular narrow set of tactics. The contrived painfully slow levelling didn't help. But then this could be largely bypassed depending on certain pre-orders or DLC, wasn't it? And which seemed a bad move Titanfall suffered from a similar problem regarding content, but the more open approach to tactics made it more dynamically changing and so more interesting in comparison If the evolve devs hone a sequel that's as interesting as their previous game, left4dead, then I'm sure evolve could be a real winner

  • It's all good, you're not the only one who feels that way. I do hope people give the new Arena mode a shot though as I found it a lot of fun, but it could probably use some tweaking to get it just right.
