Someone help me understand, at the moment its just a pain for people like me without extensive friends list.
I'm right in thinking that for the stuff that has matchmaking enabled, you can still go in with a fireteam of your choice right, you're not forced to play with randoms? So why isn't there to choice to play every bit of content with 2 randoms if you want to?

Because of this mystical difference between LFG and matchmaking. It's stupid really

1 ReplyI would hate matchmaking on patrol missions. That would just be retarded.

Agreed. There is no argument on here that can stand up against "optional" matchmaking. It's just unfathomable it isn't already there. They already have the technology in place, just open it up to the other levels with an "opt in" checkbox. Done. One comment was made about it allowing everyone to reach the higher levels too fast. Maybe they are onto something... There certainly isn't a technical issue and Bungie doesn't care about any more raging players (the forum is already filled so what's a few more about "AFK" rages, etc matter? They chose to opt in so who cares? Bring your own fireteam next time). Makes absolutely no sense it isn't there...

Why cant you make two friends to do events with? Are you really that anti-social? If so you dont deserve to do endgame.

Edited by Knives: 5/27/2015 8:42:12 PMFor stuff that requires teamwork and communication, it's probably better this way. Think about it, people that don't know how to do anything can easily queue into a game and be clueless. Do you enjoy carrying someone through hard content? (Most people Don't) Experienced players will eventually move towards LFG anyways while the clueless ones stay in queue. This leads to a stratification of 2 groups: LFG that can get sh!t done and random queues where you're grouped with a bunch of newbies. Since the queues would lead to failures majority of the time, people will venture towards LFG. This vicious cycle continues until everyone just ignores the queue entirely just as they did in-game chat option. Cheers!

27 RepliesI am not against optional matchmaking but it isn't difficult to find people to play. It just takes a little effort.
-
13 RepliesMatchmaking is the proverbial can of crickets. It will likely cause more problems than it will solve.
-
Everything should be... I dont like adding hundres of random people to my friendlist to party once, oh and those group mail spamming. . . Lack of ingame tools.
-
So bungie have more downloads for the app.. Not because "You need a really skilled team or your friends" crap Is either that or they are just lazy and underestimate randoms
-
6 RepliesEdited by VoodooN88: 5/27/2015 1:26:14 PMBecause... If someone drops from non matchmade fireteams.... The matchmaking puts someone in their group.

Just post your name and level in the threads. Someone will invite you

5 RepliesBecause then the forums would be filled even more with "POE AFK'ERS SUCK," "POE NOOBS SUCK," "STOP JOINING POE IF YOU SUCK," "EVERYONE IN POE SUCKS," "BUNGIE MAKE POE SOLOABLE BECAUSE EVERYONE BUT ME SUCKS!"
-
1 ReplyPlease matchmaking, don 't underestimate randoms. Most of them don 't mind it's a bit of a struggle in the beginning. Some choose to be a random or don 't have friends Like me. Let those people also enjoy this game. What the -blam!- is all the fuss about, people don 't want optional matchmaking. If I start mm a game I know that it sometimes not a walk in the park but he it's a game you win some you loose some. -blam!- it.
-
4 RepliesBecause if your forced to play with randoms, you most likely get paired with bad randoms, whether they spin in circles and shoot, intentionally stand in front of you to block your shots, purposely go AFK, or there just not good at destiny. Then people get mad, flock to the forums, and rage how including a matchmaking system is the dumbest idea ever conceived for endgame content. Bungie just can't win with you people.
-
I'd rather not matchmake the 35 PoE with people that still use rare weaponry.
-
9 RepliesIt is because the most difficult content requires people to commit to it. Taking the time to put a group together weeds out those who do not want to commit. If everything had matchmaking then the forums would be full of people crying for nerfs, because they can get in it they should be able to complete it right? Now while they can't complete the content and crying they will get upset and leave. After they start leaving Bungie will do the nerfs hoping they will come back. With the nerfs the people who like challenging content will be crying it is too easy they need harder stuff to do. They will start leaving and to combat that Bungie will go back to the same system they are at now. History in gaming shows that what I just said is true. What Bungie needs to implement is an in-game lfg module making it easier to communicate with other guardians and finding groups. Also an in-game chatbox for the area you are in would work great too.
-
There are the recruitment forums which could take at most 5 minutes to get a team together. Matchmaking would ruin a huge chunk in the game. People would go into matchmaking only to be the lowest level possible and expect to get pulled. There would be outrage.
-
Some activities would be a goddamn nightmare.
-
Because Activision is cheap and Bungie uses your tears as lube.
-
They should've had optional matchmaking from the beginning. It's so pucking stupid. Dunno why it's such a difficult thing for them to pull out of their ass but then again this is the same company that only recently gave this video game a colorblind setting. I guess bungie didn't think that us colorblind folks played video games.

Edited by Pravus: 5/27/2015 2:12:02 PMI agree OP. Take a look at borderlands. If you want to search for a team, you can. If not, then don't. And your friends can still drop in and out to form voluntary parties if they so choose. Some people on these forums don't understand that more choice is always a good thing. Want matchmaking? Enable it. If not, then don't.
-
17 RepliesThey really need to add matchmaking, i'm not playing the game as i'm locked out of content i've paid for. Very frustrating and no i'm not fannying about with LFG, i shouldn't have to use a device that's external to my console and TV.
-
everything should have matchmaking current state is just stupid and its the reason why majority of players have never tried raid and stopped playing after finished story missions...
-
6 RepliesEverything in Destiny should have optional MM for those who want to use it. Having to leave the game and find people on a website is ridiculous when the vast majority of the content is -blam!-ing easy as long as you're the requisite level. I'm beginning to think that the only reason Bungie haven't implemented it is they know that with MM everyone would be able to attain the highest level/best gear eventually which will obviously show how shallow the levelling/gear system is. I find it laughable that Bungie would think the content is either too hard or that they really think finding randoms is part of the challenge.

2 RepliesBecause Bungie likes to out its content behind unnecessary boundaries and hinder player progress. There is absolutely no downfall to a match making system. The people who whine about it can form a team and enter. The players who choice to use match making may struggle but that is their decision to make not Bungies. A well designed Looking For Group in-game system would be ideal. Then players can be sorted based on level and such. Elitist a can even add notes that they only want max level played with max level Gallys. Bungie needs to remove this barrier to entry.
