How to Easily Beat Qodron Without Gjallarhorn

I've beaten him twice now, both without wiping, and the first time we didn't even know about the special goblin that gives jailbreaker. This is a safe, but may take longer, method to beating him. As soon as you enter the arena, hug the right wall and go all the way to the end. You will have good cover here and very few adds will come after you. If you hide behind the crates/boxes before the last flight of stairs, no adds at all will come attack you except seldom a harpy that comes from the right side. This is where you will camp the whole time. Focus on damaging the boss and killing the few hobgoblins that will come from the hallway on your left. When you think he is close to detaining you, kill the eye (special white goblin that will follow you and camp just on the other side of your cover under the big platform) and use a shotgun to free yourself and your teammates. If two of you die, the last person should crouch in between the cover mentioned earlier and wait it out. Very few or no adds will push up to your spot and the bosses shots should go right over you or hit the cover. The first time my team did this, it took us very long to kill him, but we never wiped. But that was because we didn't know about the jailbreaker perk so every time we just shotgunned our own bubbles without the extra damage and two of us died most of the time. Nevertheless, it's still a very safe spot to camp in and we killed him about half an hour in.

  • So whoever had the jail breaker buff can burst the bubble easier and then pops the bubbles of teammates, right!? Or is there more to it?? I had the jail breaker a few times and with a 365 invective still needed more than4 shots to burst that bubble, so I'm not sure if I get the system!?

    • My friends and I had a pretty frustrating run against Qodron during our first attempt. We banged against him for 3 hours straight and eventually quit with our tails between our legs. We spent a week strategizing and going over our failures before attempting again. Yesterday, we beat him first shot; no Gjallarhorns. And it felt like a cake walk. Imo, the right hand side of the arena is way more secure than the left side. During the left side, you're flanked from generally all directions. Where on the right, as mentioned above, you typically only have to worry about your front side and left side flanks. While we were all without Gjallarhorns, all of us had Super Good Advice. What's key about SGA is, strikes against the bubble do not count as a "landed" round, and therefore, ammo is returned directly to the magazine of SGA, while SGA continues to chew through the containment bubbles. When possible, if one of us had the bubble breaker perk, we would group together. Lastly, I switched out my primary weapon for rolled hand canons with reload perks and explosive rounds. Most precision shots with a hand canon will 1-shot most of the vex trash mobs. And after doing some math, we found out the body shots with explosive rounds cause more damage than body shots with regular rounds. By the time we completed the round, I had 77 kills, to my friends' 34 and 11 (albeit, '11' was focusing on the boss, but '34' was dedicated to the adds, just as I was). In summary, if you are still struggling with this fight because you don't have the ever elusive Gjallarhorn, get some Super Good Advice, hand canons + explosive rounds, and head to the right.

    • Me and 2 of my friends made/found our own tactic that although sounds crazy actually worked after a few tries to get everyone on board with the plan. I am a 34 Titan (Defender - not fully necessary though) and both my friends are a 33 & 34 Hunter with Gunslinger. We went in and straight to the left side were most people say to hide. Strangely enough we found our tactic worked best if one person was almost always dead. As they can be revived after the shields go up and not be affected. One of us was designated Qodron's Eye killer who would bust the shields. This was my job with my icebreaker, we all grouped together around the dead orb in that left corner when shields were about to go up and I would shoot free us with jailbreaker on with my Exotic Sniper Icebreaker and the other friend would revive the other player. And then one of them would die again. To repeat the technique. However sometimes if one of us (or me) died then one of the others had to kill a Qodron's Eye and break the shield and I would be the Dedicated Down player for that round of shields to be revived after they go up. They used theyre gunslinger specials to destroy the bubble shields and break free when they were jailbreaker. One at a time of course due to Trickle being on, so not to waste they're specials. This maybe isnt an ideal tactic but who cares. It worked for 3players who don't have gallys to kill him. My shield was barely used. Only in the worst of the worst situation to save us. However you do not want to be in the defender bubble when the other bubble goes up because it can mean you cant shoot through your own bubble to destroy the trap one. We only attacked him once all the smaller guys were dead. But do as much damage as possible because more enemies will spawn and the process repeats. All in all we took about 2 & half hours to complete this lvl 34 Prison of Elders however most of that (1-2hrs) was all on Qodron including the attempts it took before we figured out this technique and practiced it a few times.

      • My friend. If the answer to the question is not gjallahorn then you are asking the wrong question.
