Is etheric light too hard to get?
So you can get etheric light from:
Nightfall (fat chance lol)
Prison of elders level 34 and 35 once per week on each character.
Trials of Osiris (if you make it far enough)
Iron boner. Which is a limited time deal requiring extensive grinding.
Most ways to reliably obtain etheric light are pvp based.

13 RepliesThe problem lies in how you get it. It all requires end game activities with no matchmaking. To upgrade all the legendary gear it requires a lot of LFG FRUSTRATION. I get the reasons they don't offer matchmaking, but before this DLC you could always grind public events or get lucky with random drops to upgrade your legendary weapons. You could always break down dupe gear for the materials too. It's just too hard to upgrade legendary weapons and most of the time you have to make the difficult choice of upgrading weapons or gear first. Not all of us have a good trials team or even a good poe team to get the etheric each week.

You can also get them from the level-up packages from Variks - I hit rank 3 for House of Judgment yesterday on my Warlock & got an Etheric Light.

For me it is hard to get, I don't own any of the DLC so my only options are iron banner or night falls. RNG is not kind to me, and I have farmed Iron banner enough to never want to play that game type again.

1 ReplyEdited by ElfishPineapple: 7/8/2015 5:45:17 PMThe only real problem is the Lvl 32 hump. 32's really can't compete in PoE 34/35, so the only thing to do is Iron Banner to Rank 5--which will get you two EL to make Lvl 33...which means you still can't really compete well in PoE 34/35. If you make 33 from IB, you're pretty much forced to find a couple Lvl 34 veterans to run PoE 34 with you. Then you can make Lvl 34 too. So...too hard? Maybe not. But extremely limited (I completely discount Nightfall since the odds of EL there are about as low as it gets).

Iron banner is not a grind just play on the last two days.

It's challenging for mediocre players to get, and their use is for mediocre players who want to upgrade their legendaries, i think yes

9 guaranteed from ToO if you go flawless x3 6 guaranteed from PoE if you do everything That's 15 guaranteed. I stopped even trying anymore o get them after i ascended every relevant piece of gear on the game. Now have 31 etheric light sitting there with nothing to spend it on, and i'm passively gaining them without even trying by doing ToO. I don't bother with PoE, raids, or nightfall anymore. If you refuse to do PVP, you're missing out on the (currently) best content in the game. Try it out.

I would love an option for them that doesn't involve being social. I more or less have played video games to get AWAY from people for the last 2 decades, but now that they are so mainstream it's becoming the norm to need friends to play -blam!-ing video games >.<

I would like to be able to be involved in all aspects of the game because I pay for that privilege. This game design is not flexible enough to allow for different styles of play which should give everyone access to what ever is out there. If bungie had said that only portions of the game will be available to players unless they organize themselves with other users to allow access.......I would not have bought this game and I am sure many others would have taken a different approach to getting involved. I enjoy the game otherwise in both the pvp and pve scenarios but because I don't relish organizing teams and the hassles that are involved I am only able to play half of what budgie sold me. I play iron banner and can't make it through the level 34 or 35 prisoner of elders so it becomes a matter of priority on how to spend your time.. Love the game but don't really appreciate the way bungie has decided to deliver it and unfortunately it looks like I will be forced to leave it because the avenues to succeed are continually being narrowed down unless one is willing to design a team to play. Have fun"..........

Have 12 in my vault and have probably almost upgraded 25 weapons. Way to easy after you get the first couple and reach 34.

The 34 once ur 34 for the light and save gun core for judgement chance Do 1 character to level 3 IB Then the other 2 will get boost so easy 3 light especially the last 2 Once u have 3 34 start upgrading ur raid guns

Played a crap load of crucible. Run my Nightfalls, like I'm supposed to. Etheric light? Nope. Starting to wonder if it's a myth. Run 34 PoE, you say? Good luck getting a team on LFG without a Gjally in your inventory. Seriously! Good luck! It's next to impossible. Have some friends mule you through? Sure...if they have time or the inclination. Especially since you almost need everyone running a Gjally to beat it. I said "almost". It's just really frustrating. Bungie needs to offer etheric for sale. Make it expensive. Make it available only once per week. Put whatever restriction on it you want. But for -blam!-s sake, Bungie, [b]sell etheric light[/b]!

7 RepliesIt's kind of a joke honestly. To get etheric light you must do level 32 POE to get the armor cores. Do this, you hit 34. There is a drawback to this, all POE gear is strength. That is bullshit, I don't want all strength. I had a perfect balance on my crotas end gear. Now I jist wasted time to do 32 to hit 34 to go back and level up the gear I should have been able to do in the first place. I have grown very tiresome of this game now. I play less and less. I just don't care anymore. Etheric light should be a given from nightfalls and a give for 32 POE. I've grinded this game enough.

It's harder to get but more of final Things that more experienced/higher level players can only get (u get the most from doing ToO)

1 ReplyI just want matchmaking on the 32 & 34 PoE at least. Happy for the 35 to be like the raids because only people who are actively seeking other players seem to stick out the more difficult challenges. As for the ToO, I really want the gear .... not sure how I feel about the matchmaking there as I only play solo matchmaking PVP for the exotic bounties (which doesn't help KD or W/L ratio's). I wont be trying ToO for at least a couple more weeks.
