HoW kicks single players in the teeth! Capped at level 32 and harder weekly strikes!

I have read and contributed to a number of treads on this subject over the last few days. Bungee have pretty much ignored everybody and seem not to care about our opinions. Thus I feel strongly enough to start my own tread. I have been a loyal Destiny fan since the moment I picked up my pre-ordered copy back in September 2014. However, the recent release of House of Wolves has left me bitterly disappointed. Needless to say I will not be purchasing it nor will I continue to play Destiny in any meaningful way. Since day one, as a single player, I have been panelised by the levelling system. Pre Dark Below I could only reach level 29 due to not being able to obtain raid gear. During the early days I was also excluded from weekly strikes. This made obtaining exotic gear a fair challenge as coins build up very slowly by other means. But I enjoyed the game so continued to play between bouts of other games. The weekly issue was, however, fixed early this year by the advent of matchmaking in weekly strikes and this rekindled my interest in the game allowing me to both participate in the satisfying strikes and improve my characters by obtaining better gear. I could still only reach level 31 due to not being able to obtain raid gear from the newly added raid (Crota’s End). This didn’t seem too bad as I had access to the majority of the rest of the game and the gameplay experience was still very good. Now, instead of only being able to reach one level below the cap, the advent of HoW means I will be left two levels short of the cap due to no matchmaking in PoE beyond level 28. Thus, Bungie are asking me to pay £20 for an add-on that I will never be able to appreciate. Once the story missions are completed I will be left with the same old stuff to do. Further to this weekly strikes will be harder due to the fact that I’m now two levels below the cap and these have been ramped up by two levels of difficulty. Not only can I not realise the new content but existing content is effectively being reduced. Many people have suggested the advent of optional Matchmaking, this would satisfy everyone as those with teams could turn it off and those that need to use it could progress in the game. As this already exists for other high level activities (such as weekly strikes) I can’t see why it could not be easily implemented in other modes. For those who wish to comment I’m aware of the LFG forums. For various reasons these are not viable alternative for many players. The point of this post is that if we buy a game we should have access to its content without the need for third party sites

  • I remember hitting 33 solo. Buying the new vendor gear and having one upgraded exotic will get you to 32. From there you compete the level 32 Prison of Elders and obtain an armor core to buy the piece of armor from the House of Judgment vendor in the Reef. This will push you to 33 which will leave you where you've been since launch, one level behind the cap. The only difference is it's possible to reach the max level with Etheric Light, specifically for your case, from the Nightfall which will only be at level 32. You're bound to get one eventually and another way to get some solo would be from the Iron Banner when you hit rank 3 and 5, when it comes around of course.
