Before I get flamed, let me say this.... I love this game. Just always looking for ways it could be better of course
So Bungie has given us all this content to fill our plates with. As a person that works for a living I struggle to be able to do Trials, weekly heroic, weekly nightfall, POE,.. etc etc on all 3 characters. Not to mention wanting to play some regular control on crucible and knock out a few bounties. Now I have to farm mindlessly in a few certain areas for hours on end so I can open the chest (which is really the only reason for playing POE).
Why can't the Treasure Keys just be a guaranteed reward at the end of a bunch of these game modes Bungie has given us?
This would promote people to play all different types of modes, instead of mindlessly killing the same enemy over and over and over, and then running to a load screen to come back and get a bunch of special ammo from the chest.
EDIT: From my understanding of the keys (And this could be completely wrong) You basically want a key for every time you finish a level of POE for it to be worth it. Meaning 4 keys per character. I have 3 characters so that would be 12 keys. That is a ton of farming each week that takes away from my time that I enjoy playing the other facets of the game.

1 ReplyTotally agree. I only have one character as I don't have the time for 3. I have now opened well over 100 chests and have only one key (plus the one for completing story missions). I just don't see the incentive in doing PoE if you don't have a key and why should I relentlessly grind only to be met with failure? Annoyed.

1 ReplyI like how they are rare. The reason why (probably) is because the first time you open the chest that week (for that character) you get an exotic (or a super high chance). The first time I opened it I got Gally, then with my other character I got Hardlight. Anyway just wanted to say what I thought.

TREASURE KEYS GET YOU QUEENS WEAPONS WHICH SUCK ANYWAYS
-
Though I mostly agree with the author, I would say that I do Poe more for the etheric light. The treasures, all be it cool and all, have dropped me the queens hand cannon 3 Times in a row, and other than those, I have gotten repeat exotics, which are now exotic shards. I'll farm when I have time, but I won't be upset if I don't have a key while doing Poe.

As a person who also works full time and has a family and stuff I have come to the conclusion that this game has way to much content to play three characters, if you want to do everything. Don't get me wrong, Now that's a good thing! A great thing in fact. My Titan just gets more love now.
-
Not gonna lie, I don't give a -blam!- about the main chest. Drops are always terrible. Only one Queen weapon I'll ever use and I have it.
-
3 RepliesKey = guaranteed exotic They aren't supposed to be easy to get
-
you don't need to open it every single time you get to the end of a poe. not to mention it sounds like you just don't have time to do everything. happens to me as well. pick and choose. I don't get everything in the world I want and getting everything I want done on destiny is one of them
-
It's not 100% but the 2 small chests on PoE 28 drop keys. Which is new content and a more interesting way to farm them
-
As you'll soon find out, the chest isn't the main reason to run PoE. It has a chance at an exotic, and you get queens weapons. The purpose of PoE is to get armor/weapon cores, and most importantly, the etheric light. Supposedly skolas from level 35 can drop primary weapons, and the elder cipher, exotic bounty for the new exotics.
-
I just farm the 28 poe. I get keys a lot from the small chests.
-
I'm ok with it. I don't like farming and getting a bunch of blue engrams and Special ammo systhesis that take up space. But at least we are guranteed things like etheric light Armor cores and weapon cores and that's what I really want personally. It's also nice that it makes patrol much more fun and populated
-
I don't even run PoE without a key and farming of not happening. Tried 23 farming spots and no key. Fk putting on all that effort for no reward
-
Yeah screw that I refuse to farm chests I'm happy with 1 per character a week I'll save for skolas
-
1 ReplyNo offense at all, but you claim having time restrictions because you work alot. That's fine. I do too. But you are trying to run three characters a week? Their system might not as flawed as your perspective gives you.
-
14 RepliesPetra gives you a Key for completing all the weekly wanted bounties i believe. And your first chest that you open with a key gives you a guarantee exotic (per character). Honestly the rewards are not worth all the keys. just use the key on the 35 for the best chance at a reward. all the other times will just give you Queen guns
-
Yeah the farming is brutal. It would be nice to have an alternative method to get some.
-
1 ReplyDont play 3 characters lmao
-
I love the midless grind so relaxing
-
Considering that Bungie got rid of loot cave farming exactly because it was hours of mindless farming in the same spot, I really have to wonder who made this decision to require hours of mindless farming in the same spot, especially considering that two of those areas you farm mindlessly for hours contain loot caves that Bungie nerfed because of the hours of mindless farming, It really sounds retarded when you think about it like that.
-
The only chest worth opening is the first one of the week per character. That's where you get the exotic, otherwise the armour cores, weapon cores, and etheric light are all granted without opening the chest. Granted if you can run Level 35 I would want to open the chest every time for the chance at elemental primaries
-
5 RepliesIn my opinion, the Treasure Key system is pretty good, however, we do need an increase to the drop rate of the keys to maybe a 1/10 chance instead of a 1/25 chance, as well as rewarding it from Trials, rarely in PoE small chests, and also rarely in the crucible.
-
2 RepliesDon't you just get a key everyweek
-
I agree. Why on earth would I play PoE without a key so why make the drop rate so horrible and such a mundane task to get.
