MLG is NOT a sport and it should never be considered a sport. Being good at a video game does not make you a athlete and no one should be being payed more than your average joe to play them. [Edited on 11.05.2008 8:24 AM PST]

All sports require athleticism of some sorts if they don't then they're not a sport. All of you who can't play any real sports stop trying to convince yourselves that your little halo hobby is a sport it's not. Your sitting pressing buttons to an animated image, get a grip.

So why is it OK to get that much for football, but playing video games is the biggest waste of your life? Think about how much money we waste on professional sports. (I'm sure it's in the billions). I guess the millions spent on professional gaming is far worse.

stacking cups takes more skill than halo, in my opinon sure it only lasts for 15 seconds, tops, but you have to work harder than halo will ever make you work

everything is a sport in it own right. people say nascar isnt a sport but you can die out there. poker is on espn. so i would lump mlg in there. its not the most physically enduring sport. but a sport nonetheless

I think that there are various types of sports. Leisure sports and physical sports. Halo is more of a leisure sport. A physical sport is more about exertion and calories burnt. A leisure sport is more about mental focus and strategy. Video games and sports are hand in hand. Some Nascar racers actually practice and learn the tracks while playing the Video game. Goalies in hockey use video games to strengthen their hand eye coordination. Coaches in football use the Madden game to study plays. The MLG circut competes for money and all the players train hard. It is a sport . Its like darts or poker. If anyone ever got totally demolished by a MLG pro contender then stepped back to reflect on how much time he must have spent to get that good, your opinions might differ. You will probably say the Mlg guy has no life and if you had that much time to waste on video games you would be that good to. But that is like saying pro athletes have no life cuzz they spend all their time training and getting good at the sport they want to excell in. Would you ever tell a hockey or football player he has no life. Probably not, unless you want your head knocked off. Like it or not MLG and video games is becoming quite a growing sport.Give em some credit. These guys are the best at what they do..

Playing baseball is just hitting a ball. Yeah, everything can be made to sound not very sport-like when you reduce it to its simplest level. Have you ever seen the gilette commerical? Where dude tells Tiger Woods "I mean real sports" Golf is sport like croquet is a sport, like horse jockeying is a sport. They all suck and they're boring to watch. But they do have one thing that qualifies it as a sport. They actually go outside into mother nature. And it requires some sort of ball.
