Its not unfair. Just because you bought the game doesn't entitle you to reap all of its rewards. Raid teams practice the mechanics of the raid, the same way a Trials team will devote time to Skirmish or Salvage to iron out their strategies.

I went flawless in trials using a scout rifle and fusion rifle.... The crucible is more balanced now than it's ever been. (Although auto rifles really need a buff) if your having problems with things like thorn or shotguns then that's a YOU problem. I faced as many thorns as anyone this weekend... USING A SCOUT RIFLE AT MEDIUM-CLOSE RANGE. And went 9-0 4 times. There are so many counters to the exotic hand canons that the argument of them making crucible unbalanced is totally invalid. And this is the first time in the game that skill grants you better rewards. Instead of needing to rely on RNG

I mean if I sucked so bad I couldn't complete a Crota raid or a VoG and had trouble getting end game loot I'd probably be pissed too. But I don't and I've got a sh*t ton of nice things. If you've "devoted your life" to this game and you're upset you can't visit a light house on a planet that's 800 degrees because you suck at PvP go play Diablo. Plenty of free things at Blizzard.

How is it unfair? I'm god awful at PVP and will probably never see the lighthouse but they earned their passage. If you wanna go so bad, practice and get good at PVP.

As someone who typically prefers PvE, I can honestly say that I won't be playing ToO so I can sit at the lighthouse and sniff my own farts. The armor is the only thing I care about, just like with Iron Banner.

4 RepliesI agree completely with OP. Locking off a major part of a new paid DLC to an elitist few is completely ridiculous. Especially since many of the "new story missions" are old material played backwards.

In most games skilled players have been rewarded. In destiny. However, in destiny, things are handed to people who could be possibly carried. Now, when something arises that requires skill. People cry. Big surprise. The weapons obtained from the chest can be acquired through Brother Vance with the SAME perks as the ones from The Lighthouse. The only difference is the element. Etheric light can be gathered from PvE activities. Passage coins can be obtained from the daily crucible activity (not that you'll need them). And for the emblem, it's purely cosmetic. The cutscene isn't really even that impressive. No dialogue. Those are the only things you can gather from visiting the Lighthouse. The Lighthouse itself as a space is very small and is basically a path to the chest with loot. Yes, there are secret rooms but nothing with anything notable inside. Essentially, the ONLY thing your missing out on is the elemental primaries but you can obtain elemental primaries from the Level 35 PoE. Instead of spending time here complaining you could be practicing getting better at crucible. Most of Trials is communication. Get a better team. Myself and a fellow streamer plan to help people in trials sometime in the coming weeks. We aren't guaranteeing 9-0 but you'll get everything Vance sells. This is basically saying "but bungieee why do people who earn things get rewards and I don't for being too impatient". With that mentality you might aswell just wait until next friday for your beloved Xur, clearly you two get along quite well. I have yet to reach the lighthouse, not because I didn't have "RNG" on my side but I had to work, you'll have next week to be a special little snowflake. [spoiler]that's if you can go 9-0[/spoiler]

Okay, so before the new DLC everyone was complaining about how we all looked the same wearing raid gear. They then decided to give iron banner gear so those who were more PVP oriented can also get to level 32 by grinding it out. That sounds fair. Now they gave people two options to get gear, Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris. That seems fair. Once people win level 35 arena they get a shader, a ship, a weapon, motes of light / strange coins, etheric light, a weapon and armor core. If people can go 9-0 in trials they DESERVE to get some rewards, they get their own shader, their own weapons and etheric light and goodies. It's their reward like the people doing Arena 35 opening their chests. Now [b]tell me what is not fair?[/b] Have you even tried level 35 arena? It's actually hard as hell, I wouldn't of had beat it without blasting Skolas with 3 Gjallarhorn's with weapons of light. We actually "exploited" a method where we don't have to worry about all of the objectives and passing around that thing that kills you in 30 seconds if no one absorbs it. It's hard as hell to do Skolas legit. Basically what I'm saying is, each end activity for PVE and PVP have their own rewards.

In the Olympics there are bronze, silver, and gold medals. The best gets a gold medal. The social space along with the treasure in the area is a very large gold medal. Also how are the Trials of Osiris broken? I've played plenty of times and never been in a broken game. Sure there have been full teams of Thorn and The Last Word but they chose a tactic that they find useful. And I've never run into any lag switchers, I'm sure that there are some but very few. But of course I do understand your anger towards PvP getting something special and not PvE. Well we have the arena, a strike, and the story, which is more than the Trials can offer.

It took us 9hrs. 9hrs. 9 freakin hours to get this poor guy to Mercury. No skill gap whatsoever. Thorn, self res, last round, firebolts, warlock teams...list continues. The point is, there should be certain perks, guns and abilities locked out like the Call of Duty tournament playlist. There's no skill whatsoever in this game. Its all crutches. EDIT: Also, what's with the "Matching in Trials will be based on latency". HA! BULLSHIT! We've had people lag back and forth and not take damage at least 10 games so far. My internet and my teams is perfect. So, why aren't we getting matched with other good connections?

PvP players have nothing to goto while you PvE players have Raids, Prisons, Patrol, and Story missions to play. Just get good and you can access the area. It's open to everyone.

You realize The Lighthouse is a glorified treasure room right? There is absolutely nothing in there but the chest you open for your 9-0 reward.

It really isn't that cool man. It isn't supposed to be easy. People were complaining there was nothing to award the hard core people. That's what this is. If you aren't good enough I really am sorry. If you have DEVOTION to it I'm sure you'll get there eventually, it isn't going anywhere

Just saying my k/d on my characters are 1.16, 0.96, and 1.17 and I got there on all 3 characters and me and a friend helped random people get there all weekend so you don't even have to be that good just saying

As someone who got 9 wins but didn't go flawless, what does it hurt to let everybody go to the lighthouse as long they still won't be able to open the chest. Ironically it would be like pouring salt on an open wound. The devs could even put a sign over it saying "You want to open this chest? Then get good." Personally I don't care though, I'll get there eventually.

No you are wrong about your whole idea... Access SHOULD be restricted to MOST of the player base... If anything it should be harder than 9-0. Remember at the beginning of the game when very few people had exotics, it was great, you felt really special having one... How special does your Thorn feel now?... Things that are difficult to accomplish and most people can't accomplish are the things that keep players playing, even if it is nearly impossible for them due to skill or time restrictions... For a long time people have been requesting better rewards for people who perform better in pvp, now, stronger pvp players have an opportunity to recieve better loot than players which are less skilled. Also to your argument about crucible being unbalanced, the crucible in destiny is, if anything perfectly balanced. The guns themselves are not balanced that is true, but the gameplay is balanced... If the other team is all using thorn, there is nothing keeping your team from doing the same. But with that said I went 9-0 almost effortlessly using MIDA and a sniper, so in the end the guns aren't going to make bad players good...
