I doubt they would do this as the amount of synth and mats you get from ether chest farming is insane. Just delete the extra mats. As for synths, Deej said he was passing along the want of the ability to delete them.

  • yeah, I got that. but I don't want to delete them. if I have a handful of pennies, I don't go to the trashcan, I go to the bank and trade it for a couple dollars. or I go piss off a clerk and buy some food with two hundred pennies, but I don't waste them. since this game is world-wide, I wouldn't expect for people in other countries to enjoy throwing away things either. I say pennies because in America, they have so little value that they are more of a nuisance. but in great gobs, you can buy a car.

You're comparing them to a currency, which they are not. As it is not possible to sell them, it means they have no worth. Wasting them isn't much of an issue when you can get more with ease. If you have no use for them, its not even a waste if you get rid of them as they have no value.

  • They used to let you trade mats for marks, so they have value of sine kind.

  • Use to. It also use to be a crap load harder to farm mats. They really have no worth other than upgrades. If you dont need them at the time or wont soon, keep a reasonable stock (400 of each for me), delete the rest.

  • The only reason it is easy to get the mats are because they changed it so you could buy them, not much else changed.

  • Have you tried ether chest farming? I delete around 200 every hour while farming ether chests.

  • Can get around the same amount farming chest and materials. Every planet has a farming loop. You can get glimmer, material and weapons and armor to break down.

Yea, with a whole lot more effort, alot less glimmer, less engrams, no keys for PoE, etc. Ether chest farming has made mat farming a joke.

Right but if you're mat farming the old way you are spending the same amount of time and get the same amount of material as you would ether chest farming now, so 200 materials then = 200 materials now. You just get a chance for a key now. Still goes back to the only reason it is easier to get material is because they changed the exchange system with the quartermasters. Not much else has changed. Also you can break down the equipment from regular chest tight there not spend time going to the crytarch to decode then breakdown.

Note I said easier, not that it takes less time. The amount of effort put into ether chest farming is much lower than standard chest farming. Most of your time is spent sitting around, which you can watch TV, chat with friends, browse the internet, etc. And this isnt even what makes mats worthless. Its the fact you cant sell them any more. If no one is willing to buy what you have, its pretty much worthless. You may have a different view, but as you have no use and are only looking to sell it, it is indeed worthless. They wont re-inplement the old system in all likelyhood. If they were to re-add the ability to trade it in they would make the rates terrible to compensate.

Which is why...read closely...if they change it back the way it was, they would. Don't know why this concept is so hard for you to understand. If I have A and you want it and you have B to trade and I want that then they have worth. Four months later I say trading B for A and you are willing to trade because you have extra A and could use B then it works out. Six months later I say trading A for B and you now have an extra amount B that you were just going to throw out and you need A because you spent all your time running around chasing keys, it would be a good deal for you. There is no benefit for the quartermasters it's not a real economy. Bungie sets it to what players have vs needs. If you don't understand, I can't help you anymore, I am done with this conversation.
A is marks vanguard or crucible, B is materials, spinnetal, spirit bloom..etc.
I want you to read this closely. The past doesnt dictate worth. If they still bought materials they would have worth. But they dont. Theres no point holding on to it as they arent going to suddenly re-add it. This was a hot topic when it first happened and they didn't do anything about it. Thats unlikely to change. Holding onto the items thinking they're worth something when they currently have no use to you and wont anytime soon is just going to aggrivate you as its taking up space. The reason they likely removed the old system was because of how easy it was to get marks (not to mention crucible exp and marks without playing pvp) by farming mats. It made doing strikes and public events pointless if your only goal was marks. Now. Could they add a system for just glimmer? Yes. But they would have to be careful as with how easy it is to farm matierals and synth, it could make getting glimmer far too easy.

  • I like the idea of having 400 of each, but that's eight vault slots. Now they have value.

But do you need the materials? If the answer is no, then delete them. Farm them when you need them. And its not 8 vault slots for me, its 8 slots on my warlock that are never filled by anything else.

  • Cool. I have two warlocks and nothing else. But since I use the second one just for coins, there should be no reason for her inventory to be maxed out. I have so little room in the vault, but when a good competition comes around, like Banner, I'd prefer to exchange gathered items for monetary value. Wouldn't you?

  • Would I like it? Yes. The problem lies in how easy it currently is to get glimmer. It takes time with how it is. With a way to turn in these items for glimmer would make it both easier and faster, something Bungie likely doesn't want.
