I'm with you on this mang. I still have one on my Warlock because I have a dim hope.

  • Maybe if we make enough noise to get someone at Bungie to notice it, and at least consider it, then perhaps we can have it one day soon. To try and fail is better than to not try at all.

  • Eh. They're too busy trying to -blam!- us out of our money dude. They don't give a shit.

  • Oh I wouldn't say that. Not everything is simple when it comes to games, because half of it is an art form, and the other a business. Finding the right balance is something I'm sure many game companies struggle with, but in the end, I'm sure they wouldn't want to blatantly give us void promises in exchange for money. That may feel like it happens but that's because sometimes hype can ruin something before it comes out, or certain details can be lost in the mix of business and art.

  • They absolutely promised more than they could provide. How long have people been asking for a Khovostov upgrade? A Stranger's Rifle upgrade? An actual story, they you don't have to hop on your laptop or phone for? Self-contained multiplayer options? Look, I like the game. I'm still playing it. But it's undeniable that Bungie only cares about what their customers will pay, not what they'd like.

  • I can see where you're coming from, and as much as I'd like to continue discussing this, I'd also really like to keep this thread generally positive and filled with fun weapon ideas. As with all topics with various view points, opinions, and argument angles, this could be discussed for days, but at the end of the day you just have to think about wether or not it's worth getting worked up about. It's good that we bring up topics like this, but I'd much prefer another thread, or place to talk about it. Again in the end, it's something that happened in the past, and all we can really do now is learn from it, and keep pressing onward.

  • Mopeds would never work for artillery, so ha! I'm joking, by the way. It's just something that sticks in my craw. I would love to see it upgraded. It felt obsolete by the third mission. I miss it.

  • Yeah definitely. The option would be nice at least. Like I mentioned in other replies, I'd love to see a Thompson, or AK looking weapon. You know, something that looks Pre-Golden Age/Pre-Collapse.

  • The ship sailed on the AK lookalike, the Khovostov appears to be much more AR-like and is Russian. Submachine guns would be nice to see though.

  • Indeed. We have regular handguns now (well as regular as an arc pistol can be), so who's to say SMGs can't be a thing.

  • It's regular in that it fits with the style of the game. Though the the auto rifle Nerf, we kind of already have them. If they were made special weapons like the sidearms and given elemental damage, I could see them fitting really well, while also filling a niche

  • That definitely makes sense, maybe make them give people faster movement speeds so that people are more agile, but they're weaker and less accurate at farther ranges than ARs. That I think, could work well.

  • I'd add to it with high RoF, low impact, and really high stability. SMGs are super easy to control in full-fun in reality.

  • .45 ACP SMGs are harder to control, but I feel ya. I think that would make sense when creating the weapon class as a whole. Something I'd like to see in future titles is weapons that favor certain classes. Not as a category, but I mean as a make. Like a compact Assault Rifle would work well with Hunters and Warlocks because it's compact, light weight and easy to handle, but for someone like a Titan (Go Titans!) they could use a rifle that's bigger and fires larger rounds. Or maybe Hunters have more accurate but less damaging ARs with longer barrels. For example, the H&K 416 would be for a Titan, and the 417 would be for a Hunter, and the Warlock could use a compact 416. It's not mandatory, but it could be a cool idea. Maybe a Titan who wants to be high speed could use a smaller weapon and so on.

  • 417 is .308, so it would hit harder than the 5.56x45mm. Sounds like a Titan gun. I'm not sure though, I like the current "no favorites" set-up. Though I find myself using certain weapons more depending on the class. My Warlock favors Pulse and Fusion rifles, while my Hunter favors Scout and sniper rifles. Titan is Scout rifles and shotguns because of course.

  • I'm the same way. My Titan uses ARs and Shotguns, my Hunter uses Scouts or Hand Cannons and snipers, and my Warlock uses Pulse Rifles and Fusion Rifles. I agree, the no-favorites setup is great, but still, I'd like a little more diversity in the classes. My nerd is gonna show a bit here, but I play a lot of D&D (3.5) and in that, a Rogue is much more different than a Paladin or Fighter, and a Wizard is the same. (Those are the closest comparisons I can make to the Destiny classes) The only thing is in D&D everyone is expected to fill a role and I don't think Destiny is trying to do that.

  • There's a delicate balance they have to achieve because every class needs to be able to solo certain things and hold their own in a fight. I feel they've done well with the classes, personally. I definitely have to change play styles based on class. And your comparison is pretty spot on in terms of what class should be what. Also, I'd use the ARs more if they had select-fire. I like my semi-auto, lol.

  • True, but I feel that if perhaps they tried to make it to where all classes could take on a situation, but in a separate manner compared to other classes, the I think that could work. An example I could give is, let's say there's a large group of Vex standing in a courtyard. (We'll say it's Vex in the Cinders during the Archon Priest Strike) So if a Hunter worked like a Rogue, they would use guerrilla tactics to hit the enemy from behind and on the flanks, and hen disappear into the background, only to return and do it again. He's not about soaking up damage, he's about dodging it altogether, or using sniper to be far enough away to not warrant any agro. They fight like Robin (Dick Grayson), who was precise and agile. He was an acrobat, and wasn't as tough as Batman, so he needed to not get hit when fighting a group of enemies. Titans (My personal favorite) could have a more up front approach to it. They could soak up all the damage, and dish out just as much back. They not only are encouraged to go out and get battle scars, but enjoy it. This could work well into the lore because Titans revere combat prowess. The Titans would run in, and just start punching things until there was nothing left but bent metal shards and crunched nuts and bolts beneath his/her boots. Warlocks could be relatively the same as Hunters in how they are encouraged to dodge incoming fire, but they focus on fast paced magic combos, and separate abilities revolving around focusing their light at the enemy. They would debuff the enemy enough to where if the warlock did get hit, the enemy would do little damage and they would be unfazed when hit by enemy fire. The Vex could try to shoot the Warlock, but he/she could just warp out of the way, and then hit it with a slowing attack, and then shoot it to pieces with a handgun. That's at least what I like to picture them in my head lol.

  • I think that all exists pretty well within the game though. That's why I've had more trouble with my Hunter and Warlock. My playstyle requires a bullet sponge. I can see what you mean though, it's not as pronounced a difference.

  • I guess the way I see it, I want to have more distinction between the classes and have them have more distinct play styles. I want them to look different and FEEL different. I'm a big RPG guy so that's probably why I'm so invested in that idea though.

  • Yeah. I also wish there were more powers for each class that you could activate. Like per subclass.
