Are Ascendent materials obsolete?
With the new update removing shards/energies from many places and replacing them with motes of light, along with making the whole of the new legendaries rely on etheric light drops to level up defense, do you think the Ascendant materials are now worth anything?
EDIT: You guys aren't understanding what my point was. Why would we keep trying to upgrade pre-HOW armor instead of pushing for the new armor that doesn't use shards?
Double EDIT: I never thought about aesthetics being a factor. To me everything looks too similar with a shader. XD But the perks given do make a difference, since the raid armor has specialized perks.

All about the perks and stats man. For me it's melee attack speed and inverse shadow among others like special weapon reload and carry more. I like the agility increase when carrying the sword as well. And yes aesthetics plays a roll as well but I prefer organizing my stats to fit my play style.

3 RepliesYou still need them to upgrade armour or weapons. Etheric light only lifts the max lvl, it doesn't fill all the nodes. Granted you could use Motes to buy them, but your gonna need all your motes for rerolling weapons.

If you want to rank up old gear so you can ascend it later you will need the shards. I am working on a VOG chest armor then hopefully get etheric light to rank it up to 42 light

Still need it for pre How weapons. Like a LMG with field scout i.e. my Defiant Gravity with field scout which is no longer a perk in HoW weapons.
