I'm glad that you took care of it quickly. I'm also glad that all in all, it only strengthened the community in general in support of you. I probably should have searched for this thread before now - sorry. Yes, we got hacked. No, it had nothing to do with DNS hijacking or anything like that - it was a simple sql injection attack. I've since closed up some security holes that should never have been there in the first place. I THINK we're good. There were never any malware apps or tracking cookies or anything on HBO - you might have picked some up by visiting thedefaced's website, and you might have GOTTEN there by being redirected from an HBO newspost (they injected small javascript-based redirects into our news)... but nothing bad came from us directly. We didn't (as far as I know) do anything to piss off that website. I'd never even HEARD of them before that attack. And for those who feel unfairly banned from the IRC channel - realize that KP manages that himself; if you're unhappy with his decisions, you need to take it up with him. For the most part, he's a pretty fair overlord; if you come in and add to a stressful situation without thinking, you might find yourself banned - maybe next time think twice before saying something at all if you're there because of an emergency. (You can probably get an answer to whatever question you have in that sort of situation just by watching the chat for a minute or two.)

I'm glad it got worked out. I was sad to hear that someone decided to do something to the people at h.b.o. That has to be one of the dumbest, saddest and worst thought out hacks in a good while.

Do you think my comp got some of the malware? I have it on my favorites but never use it. And yesterday, I just clicked on the link someone gave to it but I closed it before it could finish loading. Anyway, if there are keystrokes, I'm fine I use a key scrambler. And my AVG does an automated scan, but it says found nothing.

I'm an idiot and made my homepage HBO. This may be completely off-topic and a stupid question to ask, but how can I clear my cookies so as to get rid of any tracking cookies and related things? More on-topic, while it did visit it last night it merely redirected me to their site that appeared to simply be after gaining attention and prestige.

But the whole site was down and replaced with a new site, entering the HBO website would re-direct you to the other site.

It's fairly simple to do, and I also read an article from wii-news, and watched a video on it. It's deadly, trust me. Since I just got here, did they hack the whole bungie.org, or just the subdomain? Some people can hack big ISP DNS servers like comcast, yahoo, etc.. They do that for WoW sometimes, I've heard.
