I've seen a lot of people running around shooting the Scorch Cannon like a bonafide rocket launcher, but this is not how the weapon was intended to be used, nor is it the most effective way of using it.
The cannon shoots a projectile that can stick to surfaces, like a target. The projectile is meant to be cooked. The longer it is cooked for, the more damage it deals.
When you shoot the cannon, instead of letting go of the trigger when firing, hold it down. This is how you cook the projectile. The most damage is dealt when the projectile reaches stage 3 when holding down the trigger after firing. We'll say the initial shot is stage 1. Shortly after, you will hear an audio cue and notice the projectile has intensified in luminosity. This is stage 2, which will deal more damage. A few seconds after, another audio cue will follow and the projectile will brighten further. That's when you know you have maximum damage, and further "cooking" is pointless.
By doing this, you will be doing both yourself and those around you a favor. The more you know!
EDIT: I've seen a lot of people say they shoot at the ground below the drop ship and wait until the enemies drop down, and then blow them up with the projectile. A good tactic. I'll start using it.

2 RepliesNaw man. When you hold the trigger I don't notice any more damage at all. I'm sure there is but it is minimal
