So I've been thinking and these class items gotta start doing something other than making my character "unique."
The way I see is that I NEVER use any class item other than the dead orbit one. I'm trying to get shaders but there's gotta be another way to rank up for a faction other than wearing their class item.
I REALLY want to use all those cool looking ones for my warlock but guess what? I can't because I'm ranking up a faction.
At the very least, make the class items for each faction look as Sexy as the rest of the non-faction items. Or allow me to rank up my faction by either wearing their shader OR class item. That way I can have more combinations so my Guardian can look dope and still rank up what I desire.
Other possible nice buffs from class items can be:
-Extra elemental damage for those fiery and lighting one.
-Something weapon related like reload speed.
-slight chance to create an orb per kill.
I love destiny and I really want the game to be as good as it can.
So what do you think guardians?
Edit:
I'm hearing some good suggestions. We want to look fabulous AND have some sort of buff.
-faction specific bounties also sound pretty good.
-raid gear has raid buffs like hive disruptor.
-have the cool class items sold by the speaker be sold by the factions.
-class items contain various debuffs. Like neglecting thorn DOT in pvp.
Edit 2:
I knew I wasn't the only one disappointed with the class items. Let's get bungie to listen to us. Keep on with the good suggestions.
Edit 3:
I guess I'm gonna have to switch back and forth between faction and random class items when cashing in bounties. Sad life.

2 RepliesClass items are only really effective on Hunters and partially Titans, not saying this as some "hurr durr master race" nonsense but it's clear Hunters have it best in this area and I for one love them, they're essential because of the range of style, I know it sounds stupid but make us look 10 fold better. If you haven't seen they have made the faction cloaks much much better than the scarfs we have now, I know it often limits us when we're trying to rank up factions but I could care less, if it's that much of a deal just swap it out at the end.

How could people say they are useless?! Fashion is important I tell you!!

14 RepliesEdited by Dizzentive: 5/19/2015 3:50:42 PMI just wanted to address the suggestion about adding buffs to the class items. So, if we add a buff that lets users ignore Thorn DOT, then we need another that lets you prevent another player from gaining health with Red Death and SUROS after they kill you, as well as one that prevents Gjallarhorn missiles from seeking you. See how broken that would end up being? It'd negate all the hard work someone has to put in to get a Thorn--or any other exotic for that matter--and subsequently level that exotic up.

1 ReplyOnly class items that do anything are the faction class items

-
Other than aesthetics nothing

4 RepliesSince I'm a girl and I like to make sure my blue phoenix cloak matches with my provincial royal shader, yes, I think class items matter.
-
Factions is one reason for the marks, but I would love if they had more of a point. Some have neat little backstories though.
-
Reputation for your factions. Helps you get packages to get gear and shaders.
-
Poor warlocks. You can barely see ours. Titans, kinda. Hunters. ITS A CAPE!! FAVOURITES I TELL YOU.
-
Factions
-
2 RepliesI'll tell you why I think that they are useless; because I pick them because I like the way they look and then I can only see them in action at the tower, where I can accomplish nothing.
-
Make you look cool
-
I say they aren't useless. More experience towards leveling Archaeology and maybe some new HoW class items.
-
They make me look good so I say yes
-
5 RepliesI just want to see class items with discipline, intelligence or strength. Maybe even a "make your own mark/bond/cloak" option. Cause til I find a cloak I like I'm sticking with the makeshift scarf. Can't risk getting sucked into a jet engine with my long ass cape.

2 RepliesI stopped taking you seriously when you said 'cool looking warlock class items' since everyone knows they have the worst class items. But all jokes aside i agree, they should come with some talent modifiers IMO. Letting us double dip into some perks of our classes, or atleast do something besides rep.
-
2 RepliesI'd like to let you know that looking your best is priceless
-
4 RepliesWhat about making class items really useful. Seeing as they like to make end game stuff one level above us, just because, let the class item make up the difference. An exotic class item that lets you equip one more exotic. (Not counting itself). So you could have two exotic armours and a weapon or two weapons one armour. Or gives you 12 light, taking you up a level. So you have a choice about how to level the odds at end game, 3 exotics or level parity.

1 ReplyDo what I do. Just throw on the class item right before you turn in bounties. I'm rank 10 DO, rank 9 NM, and rank 5 FWC.
-
3 RepliesUseless for my warlock I would say. Barely noticeable armbands don't really help in being unique. Titans and hunters however are much more noticable
-
2 RepliesEdited by r4ptor4t: 5/18/2015 9:30:31 PMUseless in a sense of function (other than rep for faction), but awesome nonetheless. They are swag. It does help each person be a bit more unique, which is critical to a game, especially one like destiny that promotes choice. I will agree that warlock bonds are a bit on the small side.

I only wear my faction items when it's something to do with getting rep or turning in bounties. Switch back after that

All they do now is add a little uniqueness to your toon. But they don't DO anything (except the faction ones that give you rep but even then it's underwhelming). Why not have them add a perk or resistance or buff to us? Like give a warlock shoulder charge, or give us 5-10% arc/solar/ void resistance. And a buff like 5% more damage with our super or maybe a weapon class. Most of these I mentioned are more Pve related, but pvp ones could work too. TL;DR: they don't DO anything why not give them a minor stat boost or something?

This could be fun.

1 ReplyI think it should work like iron banner A little rep boost if you have on a shader and emblem and class item. Or even armor or weapons
