It goes without saying that the high rate of fire auto rifles (atheons epilogue etc.) are painfully underclassed for all gameplay scenarios. Which makes it all the more strange that Bungie would nerf them the most in their auto rifle nerf... Even before the nerf they struggled to outperform even scout rifles at close range, and this is almost entirley because of their absurdly high recoil. Even at near maximum stability they can barely stay on target, unlike the other two rate of fire types of auto rifles. Even with the hip fire perk they aren't particularly impressive for close range gun fights. However, despite how much Bungie has kicked these weapons while they're down, they could still be fairly good with a simple fix. Return their damage back to 11 per hit, and make their recoil a tight, random, circle pattern, instead of kicking into the sky. That way, they're still useles at long range (as intended) but they'd actually be useable at close range. Heck, they don't even need their damage returned necessarily. Just a recoil buff, maybe a bit better hip fire. Please bungie, this weapon group should be useful for something. It just isn't right for an entire archetype of weapon to go completely unused because of such unbalanced handling.

2 RepliesI love my Atheon's Epilogue. It's so much fun to use, but so underpowered. Buff, please.
