Just started Bloodborne the other day and i'm getting the hang of it for the most part, i'm a huge Souls fan so i knew what to expect going in. But does anyone have any tips, tricks, or secrets that are specific to Bloodborne that i should know about? So far i've only killed the first 2 bosses and have located the blood starved beast and the woman/beast in that chapel or whatever it is.

Parrying is incredibly useful if you can pull it off. Also, learning to dodge through attacks is useful especially for one of the last bosses. I'm on the final boss and I still don't really know what many of the items do. By the way, the isofeka's potion whatever that you get early on, don't be afraid to use it if you need it. You get another one later in the game and you can only carry one at a time.

Find, use and level Tonitrus. Your life will be much easier.

1 ReplyEdited by sasukeyr: 6/1/2015 9:04:31 PMAfter you kill the blood beast, go back to the lamp in cathedral ward and a secret path to the right will open and a hunter badge is there. It gives you the holy blade. Also, in the sewer in central there is a path to the right with a npc. If you kill her now she will drop a hunter badge where you can buy the blades of mercy. You can just knock her down to the ground after you do some damage to her and she should die.

4 RepliesEdited by Inflicte: 5/19/2015 1:45:25 PMWhen you know the game is coming to an end, do everything you wanted to do. There's no endgame sequence so the game just starts NG+ for you automatically after beating the final boss.

Edited by Troy the Unggoy: 5/19/2015 9:18:06 PMWhen you think you've killed the last boss, you haven't. And by that I mean there's so many optional/secret bosses in this game, it'll make your blood boil.

4 RepliesMake sure to farm blood echoes at the very beginning of the game. There is an armor set that you can buy at the fountain right after you get to the Hunter's Dream. It's way better than the starting armor, and I still use it at NG+5.

If you're already that far, then I think you know what to expect. My only advice is to think carefully about which weapon you want to max out. There is only one Blood Rock per playthrough (as far as I know), so you can't max out multiple weapons in a single game. I personally stuck with my Saw Cleaver the entire game. Beautifully versatile weapon

Just know, it's a hell of a lot easier than DS, but it'll still aggravate you if you let it.

In bloodborne you need to be aggressive but still cautious.

8 RepliesReal spoiler:
Once you get the cainhurst summons from Iosefka's clinic, be sure to go back and find the forsaken castle cainhurst, it's a fairly large area with good loot. It's completely optional and kinda hidden so I missed it entirely.
5 RepliesEdited by DjNormal: 5/17/2015 1:29:31 AMBloodborne is a lot like Demon's Souls in a few ways. You have your central hub that has your storage, upgrades and leveling services. You also need to "see" the first boss to gain your first insight before you can level up (which is nicer than having to kill it), so don't save up souls... Blood Echoes before you've made it to the boss' mist gate. The Cleric Beast is actually optional. The 2nd boss must be defeated before you can progress however. There is a lot of optional content after the second boss, there are 3 or 4 zones you can skip entirely, some are easy to miss. As in The other souls games, always look for shortcuts and like Dark Souls 1, you can sprint past most encounters and enemies won't follow you too far. Once the shortcuts are opened up, it's not too hard to run back to bosses. Most paths lead somewhere, there are few dead ends without a reward at the end. There are a lot less bonfires/lanterns than there were in DaS2, so it's more like the first two games in that way. But like I said, there are a lot of shortcuts that really tie things together. The whole game (except 1 zone) are all physically linked and you can walk in a big circle from anywhere in the game to anywhere else (like DaS1). You can use any weapon all the way through the game. Bloodborne is much faster paced and it's important that the weapon you use is comfortable. Some scale better than others, but when you're rocking anything at +10, it'll wreck most enemies. That said, there is only 1 +10 upgrade item per play through (excluding chalice dungeons), so be very sure when you take a weapon past +9. Most of the other materials can be farmed in various locations. All of your enchantments to weapons are done with reusable blood gems, so you can customize and re-customize your weapons over and over again for free. You do have to beat certain bosses to be able to use runes and gems however. So in the beginning, you have to rely on your attributes and un-imbued weapons. Magic isn't really a thing in PVE. You use quicksilver bullets as your "mana" and the spells (hunter's tools) are quirky and have limited use. In PVP though, you can dish out a lot of damage quickly with the right tools. They have basically narrowed the game down to the wanderer/thief class play style. Armor is of questionable importance except for some resistances. So feel free to look fabulous. There is no death penalty other than having used up your expendable items. Blood vials are like the grasses in DeS, there's no Estus Flask like item in Bloodborne. So no more cling/binding ring type thing eating up a slot. A lot of the game is actually inspired by the Tower of Latria zone in DeS, so you'll see your favorite and most hated enemies once again. That's probably too much advice. Hopefully some of it was helpful :) Edit: once you can do chalice dungeons, dive in. They are fun and have a lot of goodies. The "root" ones are random, while the rest are pre-made and typically reward the "root" chalices. Once you've opened up the root chalice dungeons, you can hunt for loot or go after specific loot by getting chalice codes from other players (Google or search reddit). The chalice dungeons are not linked to NG+ and will stay the same difficulty no matter what you do in the main game. The "depth" 4-5 ones can get rough though, making the NG play through seem easy. Also, they can be modified by adding additional materials when setting them up which makes them even harder (but with better loot). It took me a while to get the hang of how chalice dungeons worked and I had often wished I ran some sooner, so don't be afraid to take a break from the game and grind out some chalice dungeons.

5 RepliesHelpful hint that can get you to a little secret area: You can jump if you let go of circle and hit it again while running.

Don't die! Now that that is out of the way. Do try learning the timing to stagger enemies with your gun. It will make many encounters much easier.
