I imagine a large majority of those who are angry didn't do the quest, or are crucible only players. The influx of a new spoke in the proverbial cog, has thrown them off balance. I will be honest, the fact that no other weapon adds a burn like Thorn, does leave it in a league of its own. I've found that as a Titan, running dual shotguns, Universal and Felwinters respectively, and the Mk.44 Stand Asides, I can close the distance before the burn gets me. I'll trade a 1 for 1 any day, and more often than not the burn isn't what kills me, it's the 3 other jackholes around my target.
