A bug in the coding can be caused by malious software, but can also be caused by corrupted or incompete code. Bungie themselves have admitted they make mistakes, so is it farfetched to see a patch go wrong? No, of course not. Like I said before, they have the data, but there will be no fast rollback if it's lost. They don't have a backup server standing on standby to store data. Instead, they have the data compiled in code, sent to multiple terabyte servers for storage. CODE. If characters got deleted it would take a good few weeks or months to recompile the code from those servers. They were designed for secure backup. So expect alot of time to pass. Finally Video Games, have taken lives more often than ever saving one. Whether shootings, robberies over consoles, or hell spouse assault cases involving an Xbox. When do you ever see on the news, that video games saved a life? I have seen horrible news, and when a video game is involved is usually ends bloody. One time a kid shot his mother over getting his console stolen from him. 13 years old a murder. It's like an drug addict to some. Hell, even worse for others.
