Is the Queen's brother Dredgen Yor?

For those who aren't aware, Dredgen Yor is a rogue Hunter who made the Thorn, and whose name is remembered with "disgust and shame". Here are my reasons for why he may be the Queen's brother: 1. The brother wears what is distinctly Hunter armour and a cloak. 2. His shame amongst the people of the City and the Guardians would explain why he has no intent to help you get to the Black Garden. 3. The Destiny Arms and Armament book says its image of Thorn was drawn by "one of the few AWOKEN who claim to have held it". I may be wrong with this theory, but Bungie, please answer! I MUST KNOW!

  • You're right, I think that Yor was killed by Shin Malphur at their showdown at Twilight Gap. The Last Word has some deep lore though, so it's hard to say whether Shin was ever killed and the Last Word was passed on. The brother still seems to be wearing the Dark Below Vanguard armour (or similar)...

In the last word cards, it is that jaren guy who becomes a guardian, then gets overcome by darkness on the moon, becoming dredgen yor. Then, the narrator, shin malphur, uses TLW, the gun dredgen yor gave to him, to slay dredgen yor at the battle of dwindlers ridge, saying "yours, not mine."

            • I will now attempt to poke holes in this theory *pulls out needle*
And so the noble man hid himself beneath a darkness no flesh should touch, and gave up his mortal self to claim a new birthright. Whether this was choice, or destiny, is a truth known only to fate.
Crow still has flesh and is fairly mortal in appearance, post-Thorn Yor is described as having given up his mortal flesh and only keeping the bone and meat. Also, Dredgen Yor was a pretty big deal in the Crucible, and people knew full well he had the Thorn when he shot Pahanin. I think someone would put two and two together if the Crow was in fact Yor.

His names Crow. Dredgen Yor is also linked to thorn in a reference from the titan mark "Thalors golden maul" basically saying that thalor was invincible in the crucible until "dredgen yor and his thorn". But the character is actually named Crow by Bungie. Good speculation though. Maybe Yor was an awoken as well?.

              • I've read the lore of him and Jaren ward to a great extent and this would not work. And the queens brother isn't a guardian and never was.

              • That's a wicked theory. I personally believe Yor is still alive, and this is definitely possible. However, we need a lot more information first, like how long the Reef awoken live (especially the queen and her brother) as well as a ton of information on her brother himself. Still, very interesting. We also saw, way back during an old trailer, that he used a hand cannon. With all that in mind, I don't believe this theory to be true. The Reef awoken are born in the Reef while Yor was a Guardian of humanity. The Reef awoken don't favour the City and its people very much, least of all the Guardians. While this could give explanation to them disliking the Guardians (since Malphur took up a Guardians weapon and defeated Yor), it doesn't explain how the the Queen's brother is still just a, seemingly, normal awoken rather than someone who has been heavily corrupted by the Darkness. Still, it's possible since the Reef awoken came to be by getting to close to the Darkness while in reach of the Light.

              • Probably not. Yor is likely dead. And while the book mentions that the image was drawn by one of the Awoken who claims to have held it, they're clearly not talking about the man who created it. Interesting theory though!
