Explore answers to your own question. Why indeed? What would the community or BNG stand to learn / gain from such a post?
Generally, BNG never posts anything until they are ready to talk. If a plan is already in motion, and we are all talking, then maybe they are saying - we know you want info, its coming, maybe it gets folks thinking, presumably they want to communicate more about the delay but don't have I's dotted and T's crossed. Maybe Deej is doing his best to give us something vs nothing... and it does serve as a notice that more info is on the horizon, despite 1.2.0 delay. Maybe Deej wanted to say a lot more, but did what he could for now... and again, something is better than nothing... and BNG wouldnt start talking unless there was a good story to tell in my opinion... after all, just this afternoon we continue to see FB and other social posts about 5/19 for HoW... so, things appear to be moving in the right direction.

Edited by oHELLSTRYKEo: 5/14/2015 12:05:54 AMYeah I know Deej is just their whipping boy!! But really 6 days before release and they have problems? So everything goes smooth for 5 months 25 days and now it's, oops there may be problems. The problem is they had there key guys (r3's) say go -blam!- your self because this game is not going in accordance to how we sold it to the public and then you have (r2) guys move in and go oh shit we can only go this far because beyond this point we know nothing and will do our best to keep moving forward.

Not to keep disagreeing with you, but... I see it differently. I don't know Deej personally. Never met the guy. However, I've worked in the IT field for over 20 years. I'm a Lead Communications Engineer by title and 40 years old in age. So, I've seen the way more than one shop works and the way more than one roll-out occurs. I can also appreciate it when a guy has to wear many hats. My guess would be that Deej, like many of us, is tasked with juggling many duties, and communication to the community here at BNG is a very small reason why he receives a paycheck bi-weekly. My guess is that there is more work going on behind the scenes than any of us can fully appreciate. I would bet he's as much of as Public Relations guy for media, significant gaming clans, twitch figures, youtubers and vendors alike. He's doing a fair amount of Vendor / media / community Management by way of those who've established themselves... okay, maybe not the peons and pawns, but seems to be fairly in tune with those who are establishing a pulse on the web and gaming world. He sees to be doing a fair amount of Event logistics. I would bet he's choreographs presentations, private demonstrations, computes and reports regularly on a variety of metrics from various sources, creates press releases, affiliated public and private facing articles, conducts public and private meetings... just think about how much the guy has to travel and the expense reports that must go along with all that headache... and then there's that bit about tweeting, reading / updating Bungie news and posting in the forums from time to time when he's not busy... to call Deej a Whipping Boy hardly seems appropriate or justified. Though he may not cater to you or I, he may not give you what you want, he does seem to work very hard at what he does and serve the company well. To your second point, when you build code - things go smooth. When you test code, you find issues. When others introduce outside influences, you might find issues. We could speculate as to *what* happened. However, they are building code for 4 different platforms on 2 different networks... The PS4 on PSN is their flagship. They've been testing and debuting there and all has been smooth. We've seen it, others have seen it and used it, its working. They have test bed environments internally to develop on for all 4 platforms. That said, we have learned that they even went through certification with the networks and released 1.2.0 for roll-out... however, before activation, something was found that would affect several players... its probably something on ONE of the networks... its probably due to a RECENT change in the networks and it may only affect ONE of the platforms... it may be something COMPLETELY out of their control that they didn't know was going to occur when building. Again, speculation doesn't help. However, Kudos to them for implementing a system for deployment that they can find it AHEAD of launch day. They have time to correct it. This should be seen as a good thing honestly. It doesn't mean they've been sitting on their laurels, it means something was found due to a last minute / unexpected event - and their own it with ample time to get it squared away. BNG has 24x7 staff. Deej has committed to giving us a daily update on progress / status. The sky isn't falling my bud. To your final points, I hear you. We all know jobs opened up, staff changed, visions changed, expectations vs. reality in numbers was probably a learning process for the folks with C's by their name at BNG. However, any new battle plan is only good until the first shot is fired. Anyone who has ever built a business plan knows that you must constantly access your balance sheet and adjust your business plan based upon reality vs. expectations. BNG did say from the beginning, Destiny was going to evolve, and it has... they said they were going to learn from us, and they have, they said it would change, and it is doing so... they said they didn't know where the road was going to take them - and I don't think they even knew how true those statements were when they made them. I think that's why we don't hear words like "shared world shooter" anymore, and "Peter Dinklebot" has left us forever... Crota's Raid sucked in comparison to VoG, and they know it. In fact, the whole expansion was a let down... and they know that too... but, they are trying. They are learning. I expect as much of that staff change was due to lessons learned from Launch, to Crota's End, to where they want Comet's release to be - as anything else. Its also why they probably cut the raid out from House of Wolves... why have a repeat 'fail' as perceived from your customers when you can give them something new and fresh like Trials and Prison? Postpone the Raid development and make it awesome... get staff in here that can break the paradigm, and think outside the box. BNG may not move at the pace we would like, but they do learn, and have a knack for creation despite some missteps. They are in uncharted waters for their company, but the corrections they are making are to improve and I see that as a great thing. They are listening. I appreciate your pessimism, but I don't think you are giving them enough credit. Afterall, they have created something you care enough to post about, and hopefully, are looking forward to like I am. Cheers,
