I think that a lot more people will try it than not. The result is that there should be a significant enough bandwidth of player skill that even poorly equipped crews should see rewards at least as good as current crucible drops. Its all relative and most interestingly a prime example of the potential for hype and self reinforcing belief to ruin something great. If people are too fearful of trying "until they are ready" then the bandwidth of potential player skill will reinforce the idea that they are unqualified. Long story short ANYONE who can get two other people to play with them should join into the trials. ToO needs to be above all else, accessible and fun for any interested parties. Elimination presents a very interesting turn on risk vs reward... Many of today's prime crucible slayer tactics are too risky to attempt on a moderately aware team of three. If your bubble is down in the middle of the opposite teams area you could cost your team a point because you rushed. If everyone rushes then it is an all or nothing gambit that will probably prove to be not worth it. Tldr... I think the idea of "prepared" is an idea that will radically change when ToO actually comes out.
