Why do auto rifles suck eggs now?
I swear, I haven't used them since October, but ever since I started playing this game again, (the last 3 weeks or so) I've noticed that they suck really bad. They suck in PvP and PvE. I wouldn't mind if they were at least good in one of the two... But they're trash in both. It feels like I'm shooting jelly beans at my enemies. It takes a whole clip to kill a single thrall....
Opinions on auto rifles? Should they be buffed? Should they be nerfed even further? Discuss below.

5 RepliesSuros... It all started with that. 2 nerfs to that gun and 2 more to ARs in general. All due to PvP players complaining about them. The last nerf was based on some percentage of usage among the player base. Bungie felt to many people were using them, so they nerfed them into the ground. This was to "encourage" us to use other weapon classes. Problem is now they are horrible and pointless, except for the very dedicated. So everyone moved onto Thorn and TLW. Telling you if they buffed ARs back you will see HC usage drop right away. I have so many quality ARs just collecting dust in my vault. Just no viable situation for them to use them in with better more effective choices.

All you could hear in Control, Clash, Skirmish and Rumble was the distinctive sound of a magazine being emptied gaining more and more damage with each bullet. This caused much wailing, gnashing of teeth and shitting of pants. Brave guardians tried to counter with the legendary shadow price but to no avail. This caught the attention of the evil empire who got their head troll to post stats so all in the land could see the terrible power of the suros. A decree was issued that all ARs would be turned into a weapon less effective than a shitty stick because guardians were having too much fun killing with it in the crucible and laughing mightily at the forum posts calling for a nerf. So it came to pass the suros and other ARs became a weapon banished to the vaults. The little guardians once spanked silly by these weapons could now venture forth from their hiding places in the crucible and be shot in the face by Thorn. So begins the cycle anew.

The reason AR's suck is because they are popular. More people prefer using AR's compared to other types of guns. This meant AR's were used more than other guns. Bungie mistook this popularity to mean they were OP, so AR's got nerfed, and nerfed, and nerfed again. Now they suck, but they'll probably still get nerfed again.

Because people cried nerf and got what they want. And now they're a useless weapon set that I personally think need a buff again. The suros was once a god, then got nerfed to a wet paper bag, then got nerfed again into whatever they are now. I at least want a dry paper bag again lol

The lowest range, most niche guns should be the most powerful in close range. ARs are bad even in close range.

They lost their power at range You can offset it with decent range perks but that is going to be at the cost of losing stabilty perks or a damage perk which most autos need. Some are still ok but pretty much everything else is better at the moment even a fast rof scout rifle

After the rebalance they are more like they should have been and require a little more skill which everyone that cries about them being ruined obviously does not have. I can kill a thrall/dreg/acoylyte/vandal in less than a clip with any of mine so again their is your proof if you take that much to kill then obviously just spray and pray and do not aim for the head or feather the trigger for best accuracy and damage per hit.
