I've been thinking this over, and one thing I haven't seen yet is anyone discussing the unintended consequences of "House of Wolves" for the other endgame content.
Maybe it's because we've seen it before. After all, when TDB came out and Guardians went to Level 31 or 32, the VoG raid became fairly routine, even on Hard mode. So we know that Crota Hard will soon be run (even soloed) by players who never tried it before, simply because they have a new level and their characters can take more damage, survive longer, and deal more damage to enemies (since we've been suffering a damage penalty for being below level 33 all this time).
But think about poor Atheon for a moment. He's going to have Level 34 Guardians stomping through his Vault, stealing his Mythoclast and Fatebringer three times a week, taking no more than an hour to do so- then leveling those weapons up to 365. We don't NEED a new raid to make those weapons "relevant" (whatever the hell that ever meant). NOTE: I realize that higher levels won't mean doing more damage in the VoG raid, but it WILL mean that enemies do less damage to YOU. Just like going into a Level 26 Roc strike at Level 30 lets you take 33% less damage, a lot of players will finally hit Level 32, go to the Vault of Glass (nm), and find they are relatively a lot tougher. This will be the training ground for Hard Mode, which won't be all that hard at 33. At 34? Piece of cake.
I foresee a rebirth of interest in VoG and Crota, as Guardians level up in HoW, just because the raids will become easier (read: less friggin' frustrating) to complete, and the weapons from the Hard Modes will become more and more widespread.
This will naturally lead to entire new brands of elitists, who will boast about getting their Vex (or whatever) before HoW. I will refuse to indulge in such snobbery, of course.
Even though I totally did get mine a month before House of Wolves.
Because I plan to take full advantage of the situation, if it does indeed pan out the way I think it will.
If it doesn't, then I'm in dead shtuck, because I still want 2 more Vexes, and I'm going after them no matter what.

18 RepliesDamage is capped. It won't matter if you are a level 30 or 34 in vog, you'll still deal the same amount of damage. The only thing that will will be different that actually matters is your armor rating will be higher and you'll be able to take more damage. Its pretty easy now being a 32 so i dont think being level 34 will matter all that much anyways.
