I think we can all agree that the Crucible is pretty one sided after the latest weapon rebalance. Lots of Thorn/TLW/Pulse Rifle + Felwinters or other long range shotgun.
I personally don't think those particular guns are the main issue. After looking at a handy spreadsheet I found on Reddit, I was confused by many weapon's TTKs (Time To Kill). Hand cannons in general had the fastest, then pulse rifles, then scouts and ARs were about tied. Shouldn't the most niche guns be most effective in their niche?
ARs are high risk, low reward right now. They have a low range, low stability and a relatively high killtime. The ideal order for TTK should be (in my opinion) ARs with the quickest, HCs second quickest (they're hard to use if you have poor aim), then pulse rifles being a little behind HCs and scout rifles in last (they should spank everything in long range, however.
Now, obviously these changes alone wouldn't work well. ARs would need a base stability nerf and a small range nerf depending on archetype. HCs should get a aim assist nerf to make them harder to use. Pulse rifles would need a stability buff and possible a range buff. Scout rifles would possibly need a higher flinch modifier to throw off your aim at a distance.
Blink... It's awesome looking. Easy to use it in tandem with a shotgun to get close the distance suprisingly quickly to kill people. Easy to use yet difficult to counter. I think the best way to solve it is to make the user somewhat more vulnerable to damage before and after (the startup animation would need to be increased so you could get shots on them) they use blink. This would make it so if the blink user needs to use 2 blinks to close the distance on you then you would have a fair chance at killing them before they blink again.
This concept might be unknown to Bungie but maybe they could balance PVP and PVE seperately? Nevermind, that's a crazy idea...
Edit: here's a link to a handy reddit post

Update: it looks like most people want an AR buff, new, larger maps and a gametype that plays similarly to Halo (start with the same weapon and get map pickups.
Edit: 300 posts! Thanks for all of the feedback. Hopefully Bungie takes note of some of these ideas. Make sure to bump any ideas that you think would help the Crucible!

5 RepliesWhen I first started playing I always used autos because I couldn't aim. Then I got better at consistent headshots and tried other weapons, but there were autos that could snipe and kill super fast. Then they nerfed them and other weapons were viable. Autos are like just the easy to use in crucible answer. Yeah you can make all guns viable, but I don't want autos to be the best in all situations again. Headshots with precision weapons should definitely beat autos outside of close range.

None of the above, just fix the damn lag.

No more lens flare for NLB

1 ReplyDon't complain about pvp or pve. Just adapt to the map and people around.

Edited by Th3NapsAday: 6/6/2015 12:02:00 PMto bunjie.....Create maps with weapon group specific load outs but let us choose the weapon from this sub group. Stop the nerf buff circle you have created. You will never find a perfect balance with this system of nerfing this buffing that. Its a dog chasing its own tale. Please put some fun back into the game. This is not rocket science or is it ???

4 RepliesI don't understand why people want auto rifles to be buffed. I notice that only some need to be buffed (necrochasm, I'm talking about you). But others such as hard light and the summoner tend to be a frequent reason for my deaths. Also, the buff for hand cannons and pulse rifles has caused most pvp engagements to be at a longer range.

Edited by EVIL VENOM: 6/6/2015 3:24:44 AMNone of the above. Bigger maps but not too big just good enough for 12-16 player that does not feel squashed together Ohh and dedicated servers!!!

There is no way hand cannons should shoot scout/sniper rifles range on any map.

1 ReplyDedicated servers and map voting.
-
1 ReplyTake out blink and shoulder charge for sure shoulder charge is super cheap and only scrubs blink/shotgun and they should ban all exotics so that its only legendaries it would be more balance but I do think they should buff ARs just a bit
-
1 ReplyWow. No option again to just leave it alone and let it breathe. Sorry. I guess I don't get a vote. Again.
-
I think the action they are taking is a huge step in the right direction. I just hope guardians can be retrained to stop thinking about cheating and cheesing all the time. I wouldnt change any gun. I never thought a gun was OP...and if i did, i wanted it. Hehe
-
3 RepliesHonestly buffing auto rifles would balance ceucible by itself. They allow for counters to hand cannons. Crucible is nothing but hand cannons and shotguns. Shotguns arent the problem though.
-
Nerf exotic hand cannons Buff all auto rifles (nerf suros is necessary) Add hardcore mode (no supers or heavy ammo, fixed loadouts seems cool too, but I like my guns)
-
1 ReplyBuffing auto rifles doesn't change anything. Scoutrifles still don't have a placen
-
1 ReplyJust have special crucible weapons and leave the destiny weapons for pve. That way we don't have whiners complaining about certain weapons being OP.
-
Hardcore mode pls
-
1 ReplySimple, get rid of crucible. Nerfs wouldn't happen and all the crucibabies can go back to cod
-
1 ReplyFirst they should lock down their terrible netcode. Remember when people were bitching up a storm about BF4? Destiny is every bit as bad as that, if not worse, so that should be the first fix. Other than that, it's pretty balanced. Handcannons are overly effective, but that's probably a map design thing and not the weapon itself.

Appropriate matchmaking. 1. Only regional peer to peer 2. No team matchup with solo queued players
-
2 RepliesNothing it's a cluster -blam!-
-
6 RepliesBring back the use for secondary weapons in gerenal. Hard to use them when you have no ammo for it...... Ever.........
-
11 RepliesI don't play pvp unless it's iron banner. I think IB is perfect the way it is so maybe a hard core mode with no radar and all guns 1 or 2 hit kill depending on distance. Like a hand cannon has a range that at a distance will take about 4 hits and the closer you get 1 hit. Shotguns need to be at close range closer than that are now. Snipers will always be 2 body hits and one head hit. Auto rifles close one hit you get the idea. Yes alot of camping will happen but I would enjoy trying it out. Sounds dumb I guess but I won't touch pvp because it's terrible. Also bigger maps like 4 times bigger than the biggest.

3 RepliesMORE SHOTGUN RANGE!!!!
