In Prison of Elders, you’ll partner with fellow Guardians and attempt to survive a series of battles across many of Destiny’s toughest alien races, including Hive, Cabal, and more. Each encounter will be a bit different thanks to procedurally generated gameplay wrinkles, whether it’s different mission types, modifiers, or boss battles. Survive it all and your fireteam will gain access to the Queen’s treasure room — and trust me, it’s worth the fuss. Devoted Prison of Elders fans can also unlock special challenges at levels 32, 34, and 35.
The ultimate Arena Challenge
Speaking of friends, if you’re a higher level player, I hope that a few of the supportive players I mentioned earlier have made their way onto your friends list. While the level 28 version of Prison of Elders has matchmaking support, Bungie did clarify that, once again, you’ll need to make a group of your own to tackle the level 32 mission Broken Legion, the level 34 mission Urrox’s Grudge, and the level 35 mission Skolas’s Revenge. Each week those missions will rotate though. The level 34 mission will be replaced with something new and that old mission will now become a level 32 mission. The level 28 matchmade mission will always be random. That rotation should do a lot to keep the gameplay fresh.

The Prison of Elders melds Strike missions, damage modifiers, and objective based gameplay together to bring us into a place where ”the most nefarious enemies in the galaxy are held prisoner.” You and two other players will arrive at this location in a dark and dingy room with four doors where a modifier notification will eventually pop up on your screen before a door opens revealing a large Servitor and your challenge. Once you enter the room you’ve been assigned, you’ll fight waves of either the Hive, Fallen, Vex, or Cabal while being given secondary objectives and avoiding landmines strewn throughout the level. These secondary objectives can consist of blowing up bombs by shooting them, disarming bombs by standing near them, or killing an enemy before he reaches his destination. Thankfully, these secondary objectives stop the mode from becoming a ‘hide in the corner and shoot everything’ mission. They’ll force your group out of your comfort zone and make you go to different areas of the map, but you’ll usually return to a spot that you’ve made “safe” – or at least as safe as you possibly can when 40 enemies are all around you.
REWARDS:
Once Thau’ug fell, however, we were all treated to the real treasure. After receiving a Treasure Key, we once again went back to the central room, only to discover that the ground had opened beneath us. We then descended to receive our prizes, which seemed completely random. While I received a 23 clip Machine Gun that seemed rather ordinary, it’s important to remember that you can re-roll these weapons for better perks that fit your playstyle. This mechanic is already used in the Iron Banner, but will be expanding to all House of Wolves weapons. My teammates received a scout rifle with some decent stats and a shotgun that could potentially replace the Secret Handshake or Felwinters lie. The chests also contain another chance at Exotic weapons and armor, meaning yet another path for players to grind through week after week.
Edited by twinsnakez43: 5/6/2015 10:36:55 PMThings I took away from the live stream.... Gjorn still is king The dark below weapons are going to be awesome against hive rounds especially necrocasm with primary buff against all those thrall. Reload speed is going to be crucial All classes will be needed and useful, titans to place bubble to diffuse bombs or keep VIP off zones, hunter invisibility to get shield back and health and recover allies and diffuse bombs, warlock to do what they do best revive. Good lord those guys sucked tho....Not utilizing cover, charging head first into hordes, and not letting shields recover. That one guy screaming like a girl when he found scorcher was beyond annoying.

so let me get this straight: you form a Fireteam of three to go INTO a Prison with the sole Purpose to SHOOT and kill PRISONERS??? you dont go in there because of a Hazard to he life of people, or because of any other purpose than killing Prisoners?? for the sole "fun" of killing imprisoned Aliens? Whats that ? some Kind of Guantanamo for Destiny? Bungie? WTF ?

Actually enjoyed the stream somewhat. Never heard of this Broman guy but he was very annoying. He calmed down a bit towards the end but I almost cut the stream off at one point. I'm looking forward to PoE, hopefully it keeps me coming back to the game even with Witcher 3 releasing. Oh yeah, I want that sidearm!

Can you actually complete all three per week or if you complete the highest level one it gives you the rewards for everything below like the weekly heroic strike
ProBro: My role in the destiny community, in my eyes, is to provide a positive place for folks to discuss and play the game they love with each other. Every day I've streamed on twitch since the Destiny launch has shown me how absolutely caring and wonderful folks are in the community. Right in the feels, man. Can we expect this same level of kindness on your channel if tune in? ProBro: If you tune into my channel you can expect to be greeted by music and a smiling (or occasionally hysterically laughing) face. I like to vary my content across all the game has to offer and try to include as many viewers as possible on all aspects of the game. PvE is my favorite, but occasionally I enjoy showing off my terrible K/D in Crucible as well.
He didn't mention screaming like a woman in his interview...

Deej looks absolutely miserable
-
why is the warlock on https://www.bungie.net/en/event/prisonofelders still wearing Crota's End raid gear? *MISTAKEEEE*
-
Always the best post!
-
Did they even finish it? I turned off after an hour and twenty because I couldn't tolerate watching oblivious mediocrity any more. Deej didn't participate in the ToO reveal because he clearly can't PvP. Hopefully today was a wake up call that he can't PvE either. He had full heavy for so long but insisted on using Red Death. There was Heavy ammo littering the floor but he still didn't use it! At one point he noticed some heavy ammo and jumped up to pick it up. Then realised he had full heavy so put it on and shot two guys with it. Switched back to Red Death and picked up the heavy ammo for a total of 15 rounds. Adam Goldberg using an AR the entire time and Broman pushing shotgun and melee at the most inopportune moments against level 34 enemies even when the debuff was non regenerating shields! Painful viewing. Like Raiding with you guys or Weekly Matchmaking. Just makes me appreciate the way I play all the more.
-
I've seen blind deaf mute dwarf corpses play better, are they trying to make out its actually hard? I'll tell you what isn't hard and that's me for this game.
-
Matt definetly had a pistol as his secondary.
-
Don't know why they didn't just let matchmaking go all the way up the power level scale. I fully rely on match making as I never ever know when I will have time to play. Oh well. I'll just have to deal with it.
-
Edited by Erijian: 5/6/2015 8:57:04 PMI'm assuming the Queen's Guard Weapons are the ones that can randomly drop and be reforged. Supremecy with Final Round is going to be better than Efrideet's probably.
-
Well these seems like it's gonna be great!
