I can't help you if you just generalize your point into oblivion, ignoring the facts in front of us. You cite graphics and I guess that shows your level of insight; graphics are one output of many, and they're hardly the most important. Here's simple math: Dedicate 25% of your resources to each old and new console; You now have 2 variables to consider when dealing with the lowest common denominator, because 360 and PS3 aren't equal. You're now making a game that now holds back from maximizing potential on 3 consoles. How is that smart? Congrats, you've now played to the lowest common denominator and continue to work in the Stone Age. Or, split your resources 50/50 between XB1 and PS4. That frees up more resources and budget across the board for everything from development, testing, support, storyboarding, cutscenes, new and more complex functionality, better UX, and beyond. Catering to the old consoles is plain bad. Bungie doesn't want it, Activision doesn't want it, and Microsoft and Sony sure as hell don't want it. Their day is past. Let it go.
