The element types are actually related to light, and no in pvp it does not matter. Element types only affect the appropriate shield. Each subclass is based off a element type. Striker/arc. Void walker/void.

Question: I threw an incendiary grenade at a titan who had the shield he gains from sprinting for a short time (striker titans, arc). It was close enough that it would do damage, but it said immune. Was it just a little too far away? If so, why would it say that? Never thought elements meant anything till this happened today

Oh jeez..well I havnt seen a indicator that the sprint shield is weak against any damage type. Sorry.

Thanks. I understand subclasses have different elements based to them. My question is does it effect the appropriate shield type? (Re-read the 2nd question if you need to.)

Yes. A strikers abilities deal arc, so they affect shields appropriately
