You're looking at things in a pretty unrealistic way. Comet (If exists) it's going to be an add-on, running on exactly the same graphic engine and using the same physics from the base game. Releasing it for current gen only wouldn't change anything. DLCs don't improve any core features of the game, they're just more content based on the base game.
