Is the Halo 3 Spiker worth wielding?
What do you think of the Halo 3 Spiker? Is it worth using? I dont even have 1 kill with them because I find that they are rather ineffective to use and they are not worth going out of my way to get, I figure that a battle rifle or carbine or even a magnum will suffice. Recently I did some duals testing and found the the Spiker is the only dual wield-able weapon that I found ineffective. The Plasma Rifle, SMG, Magnum, Plasma Pistol, and Mauler all worked well when randomly combined together in dual usage but not the spiker. Is this because I play on 5 sensitivity on bumper jumper? Do you find the Spiker effective? So do you think that having a dual wield-able weapon as the default starting weapon would help you improve with and use duals more?

They're good every now and then but you can never use them a whole game, there are usually SEVERE drawbacks like ammo deficientcy and accuracy but I find the Spiker to be even worse.

I unleashed my entire clip.Suddenly I heard a roary huhh..? Followed by tremendous laughter.I looked closer and saw that I had everything killed but the brute. With no ammo left I escaped. While I was hiding in cover, 2 brutes approached, their friend was still laughing. They soon left with their friend. 3 Campaign levels later I overheard 2 brutes talking about another brute called Brabruaga(whatever). They said the brute had been taken to a mental clinic and that he was laughing ever since his encounter with the demon. on the pit i will always dual weild the spiker, head into the room with the sword (cause theres always a guy camping there) and freaking waste his ass, it sucks single handed but in close combat it deadly dual weilded

To me they are just the most unusably weak weapon in halo, I do better with magnums, Spiker don't mix well with other duals.

To my experiences, the Spiker is a complete, unstoppable beast when your enemy is reloading and has no shields, it's just disgusting.

I like them...I remember seeing a chart comparing bullet effectiveness to clip size and the SPIKER was MOST EFFECTIVE for damage vs clip capacity. I like them...they're fun and they have a sweet melee...plus the reload is so fast...I will usually drop the AR for one...but keep the BR out...use it for close range.

I only use it on Snowbound with AR starts, only if I am outside of the bottom level cave thing, and there is fighting going on in there. Better than AR in real cose ranges.

Ok so I played a couple games the other day and nobody used the Spiker. I asked them why they didn't use it and they all said it sucked.

not normally. at close-mid range dualed yes. but if u dual with the plasma rifle and 1 spiker its nasty

Its an ok weapon i would switch it out for an AR.

i was playing lonewolves and i decided, i might dual the spiker, and then i picked up a plasma. made a comeback while i was behind like 7 points

Spikers seem to work really well against vehicles, especially the Hornet.

I have a few kills with it simply because I trade out my assault rifle for the first weapon I find, no matter what.

Probably my least used and most disliked weapon in the game...right underneath the cone. :P

DUALS BLOW, ESPECIALLY THE SPIKER.[/quote] Duals are fine, Smg's dualed decimates the AR, and Spiker decimates nearly any weapon up close.
