1 ReplyLol. Look at all the posts from newbs crying to nerf it. Question answered.

1 ReplyWorth it in crucible, not so much in PvE

8 RepliesA guide for those who don't PvP or don't think they can get 500 void kills. 1) Equip all void weapons you can. If you don't have a primary, that's okay. Just be sure the other 2 are void. 2) If possible only get void kills. This cannot be stressed enough. Any kills you get that aren't void damage are worthless to your cause. You're essentially losing 5 points by kills not being void damage (verses losing 2 for dying). 3) You don't have to have legendary or exotic void weapons, blue weapons work fine (outside of Iron Banner). That said, whatever level weapon you're using, fully level all its perks. Every advantage in The Crucible helps. It's amazing how many people roll unleveled weapons. 4) If you need to, camp, camp and camp some more. Rome wasn't built in a day and you're not going to get Thorn in one match. The important thing is to get void kills. If it means hiding, so be it. 5) Understand the scoring. +5 for void kills and -2 for deaths. Big picture this means that as long as all your kills are void, a 0.40 k/d is break even for the match. Anything higher is positive points towards your goal. 6) You don't need to lead your team in kills. If you can average 10 kills and 10 deaths, that's 30 points a game and 16 games to complete. 7) Don't get discouraged by a bad game. Even if you go 10 - 20, you still just got 10 points towards your goal. This is also why it's so important to try to only get void kills. If you go 10 - 20 but only 4 kills were void, you just lost 20 points. 8) Don't get discouraged by the first few games. It may take a few games to start seeing progress, but if you play smart you'll be surprised how fast your score can rise. 9) Play Control. With zone objectives, it's much easier to predict where enemies will be throughout the match. Plus you can shadow teammates and glom kills (all is fair in love and war). 10) Have fun, it's a game.

Good.

Hate PvP, did not enjoy the challenge. However, Thorn is WELL worth the effort. Very good weapon!

Hi CalCharlie, There is no way to alter the requirements for the Thorn. Try taking it slowly when playing crucible, even as far as "camping" a particular control point with a void shotgun/fusion rifle. I would recommend the Swordbreaker from the Crota raid. If you are able to go through Crota on hard, there is a chance you will receive the Word of Crota. This void hand cannon will make short work of that portion of your bounty. Just keep chipping away at it, you'll get it!

- Nate, one of the Mentors on the forums.

4 RepliesDude, I'm a hunter (no void class), I used word of crota, swordbreaker and truth on the clash playlist. I suck at crucible and yah it took me forever to do, but it's possible dude. As much as I hated that part I feel if they make it easier it would lead to an even bigger nerf on the weapon, I just got mine on Wednesday, so I'd like for that not to happen.

3 RepliesIt's not hard at all plus you have a 32 warlock just put in the effort and stop trying to get things handed to you. If you can't do it then drop it you don't deserve it. I'm not trying to be rude but I hate reading how hard this bounty is. Hard no long and time consuming yes but it's worth the effort...

2 RepliesDone it pre nerf, did it post nerf, waiting on new dlc to trade in for upgraded damage, It's not that hard. In fact, it's my favorite bounty to do because it's actually challenging. You don't even need to stay positive. I was a post someone said that with a .66 k/d every match you should be able to get it done after a while

1 ReplyTook me 5 games. Word of crota Two to the morgue/ praydths revenge Corrective measure
-
Drop the void requirements altogether.
-
It's a pain in the butt, and I'm terrible at pvp but I managed it.
-
It's a pain, to be sure. One thing that will make it easier though, use void weapons and if you are playing a 'lock obviously use the void class. That way grenades and charged melee will count towards it as well. Thorn (at least till the nerf addicts get to it again) is still worth the work!! Good luck man.

3 RepliesFunny cus I did it on my own. And I'm not even great at crucible. Maybe you just really suck.
-
1 ReplySorry to tell you but not even friends can help you out kill the enemy players. Also it is meant to be hard for it's an exotic weapon bounty ....
-
3 RepliesIt has been made harder by the reduction in special ammo drops. I did mine before that change with a rare Void fusion rifle. My suggestion in lieu of the ammo drops would be to allow 2pts for a kinetic kill. Failing that, there is special ammo synthesis from the gunsmith. Thorn bounty is meant to be difficult.

3 RepliesGet word of crota and kill kill kill
-
I've completed the bounty pre and post patch. Once in my hunter the other on my Titan. Just play control and be super super campy on B and you'll get it.
-
4 RepliesYou just need to have a good void setup. I have an average k/d of only about 1.0 and finished the thorn bounty on my own. I had a void weapon for every weapon slot though.
-
I did it with a titan in a few hour d running atheons epilogue, ldr 5001 void sniper, and an against all odds void heavy mg
-
4 RepliesI did it in 2 hours ...you are just a noob :(
-
5 RepliesI did this bounty with no friends along twice; already doing my hunter's for a 3rd Thorn; your best bet is a fusion rifle; yeah snipers are efficient but the enemy can see your sniper's light from across the field and that makes them hide and find a different pathway to kill you as opposed to delayed firing with fusion rifles but if you manage to sneak up on them they have about 1-2 seconds to turn around and kill you; but with a decent fusion rifle like New Monarchy's Purifier you should be able to kill them in one shot; I recommend Control mode like IronBanner; people says Rumble; my rationale though is the enemies are focused on capturing zone; you dont or shouldnt care for wins/zone control you're there for kills; win or lose as long as you get 0.62KD or above after each round you're gaining points; any kill/death ratio lower than 0.62 means you're losing points; dont even look at your progress that will only either encourage or discourage you; after each match just look at your kd and hope you have 0.62 or higher. Focus on the kills; let the enemy get the zones and while they focus on securing it blast them from behind or whatever strategy you come up with; works great in Inferno with no radars; they wont see you coming, unless you're sniping... they see that sniper's light and you either kill them right there and then or they'll kill you. Good Luck.

I'm not very good at crucible. I used word of crota, sword breaker and truth. My class was defender Titan.
