If Bungie never developed Destiny for both generations, then They wouldn't have to make DLC for both.
However, since Bungie did in fact make the game for both gens, they must continue to support both games until the end. Bungie committed to this path. Now they have to keep the commitment.
I play on Xbox one. I originally had the game on 360 before making the move, and still play on 360 quite a bit. I know that the game is held back by older software. Yet this game must remain the same for everybody. You can't just drop off half the community at this point just because some people did not move on; they bought the same game with promise of having the same experience across all systems.
Now for the next game, it better be current gen only. By 2016 the players who haven't made the move will simply be left behind, as they failed to move up with the hardware even after a generous 3 year period for transition. But, for this game, equal support for all versions or support for none.
