I joined my clan completely through the app.
If they say they have joined are you sure an administrator (presumably you since you say its your group) has accepted them? Because when they select to join someone has to accpt them before it official.

You can join but you can't set it as active.

i definitely accepted them they are in my group, just not the clan. i haven't seen anything on the app about the clan
