Just got Black Hammer. What is all the Hype?
I just got Black Hammer and it is a great sniper but I fail to see what all the hype is about.
Am I using it wrong? It was my first Crota win and I got Titan hands and Black Hammer. How is the best way to use it?

It is amazing in both pve for bosses and in pvp for the fact that of you are a 32 in IB you one shot anybody as long as they are 31 or below

Using it on bosses like Fallen Walkers, Aksor, Sepiks Prime, etc. It's great on ogres as well. Other than that it isn't all that great. I'd rather use Praedyth's Revenge or my LDR 5001.

I haven't been fortunate enough to receive it but it's mainly used on bosses with large crit spots. Eg Aksor, the Goliath Tank

I was of a similar opinion as you until I looked at how a guy who could solo CE had his perks setup. I emulated them & I'm much happier with it & use it more.

It can't be dismantled. You hold square on it, it dissapears, then you go to your post master and there it is.

It can take down bosses real easy if you're an accurate shot. The other part of the hype is that it is one of the more rare drops, along with hunger of crota, on normal mode.

4 RepliesIt's basically a strike boss destroyer. Especially sepics and nexus. Good on atheon too. I've gone 20 plus shots without a reload more times than I can count

You never need to reload on certain enemies, plus it's got pretty high impact.

Can beat Sepiks in minutes and if you keep stringing crits together he can't even move.

1 Replyshoot the devil walker, sepiks, atheon or the big tank in the mars strike and you will see (just don't miss). Don't bother with it on the pea headed cabal boss though :)

Hits like a truck (basically a Destiny Barrett .50) has endless ammo on things like walker legs, servitors...

All you've done is unlock White Nail. You still need that Stability upgrade.

8 RepliesAs most everyone has stated, it's best for boss fights and not very useful outside of that. Tip for the Devil Walker: If you're in the middle of your 3 round clip and the walker begins to collapse don't wait for head to open as that usually takes to long to maintain the precision streak, continue to shoot the legs. It will say "Immune" but will still register as a precision hit allowing you to maintain your streak.

great for bosses that are not very mobile, great for ogres. The 3 crits in a row will give you an instant reload.

Critical hits give you unlimited ammo and it is one the the highest damaging snipers in the game. With weapons of light I get 19k+ critical hits on atheon

Precision mag. Its epic against aksor and fallen spider tanks
