90% of players likely wouldn't be able to play without aim assist unless they've done so before in another game. Aim assist occasionally sticks your reticule on unintentional targets, but the sensitivity reduction while tracking targets and increased hitbox size is extremely helpful.

Agreed. It should be an option that is automatically off by default and able to be turned on

Eh I think it should be the other way around. Most games that do have an option to toggle aim assist have it on by default. Wouldn't want people completely new to the genre to fail at tutorial.
