How I met my boyfriend , was it... DESTINY?? (pun superintended)
This is the story of how I found one of the strangest, rarest, and most enchanting engram ever on destiny. XD ,
Destiny, an online FPS that boasts more than 22 million players “and counting”, was my unhealthy addiction for at least three months. Why you ask? Well, I’ll tell you that it wasn’t different from any other addiction. I don’t think I’ve done any other hobby for 366 hours. The most unhealthy moment was the night I stayed up till 6 AM shooting the heads off ugly alien zombies just so I could max out my level 20 cool-awesome gun that is a total POS to me now at level 31. Or how about those 11 hour spent yelling at my controller and TV about “Why the -blam!- is the witch moving so much?!?” while trying to -blam!- Crota’s End.
But no matter how much alien hunting, engram farming, or spam vanguards I did, nothing would have prepared me for the wildest and most unexpected experience ever.
If someone would have told me before that I would meet my boyfriend on a video game, I would probably laugh in there face and tell them to -blam!- off. But as it turns out, fate has a little way of slapping you in the face because that is exactly what happened.
So before the story continues any further, let me first introduce you to this jerk named isnipewierdXD. The first game I ever played with him, he called someone a “bubble gum princess” and killed me with his sparrow (bike). Not to mention, this jerk of a clan mate decided to name our clan “For the infection”, and somehow I coincidentally came down with laryngitis a week after joining.
“Snipe”, as we called him, was THE biggest troll I have ever played with on destiny to this day. Only he would come up with names such as “Ugly Ryan” , “ Virgin Slut”, “ Magnificent Horse”, and other absurd names only he could think of.
Aside from the crazy names and trolly behaviors, Snipe was one of the best teammates you could have. He was a good leader, at times, when he wasn’t calling people mean names or telling them that he wanted to “slide his penis down their faces like a snail”; he was a guy who would help you out on raids, weeklys, and bounties or whatever that needed to be done.
Our team was close Snipe, Gucci, Xeon, Erza, Guitar, and I , the original A team , always gathered together to try and save our virtual universe , which never seemed to stay saved for long because if I recalled, I might have killed Atheon and Crota about 5-8 times each.
Eventually, I got to know more about this jerkoff named Snipe. I found out he lived in my old neighborhood, only a few blocks from my old house actually. We ended up talking everyday, especially at night time, where we would have conversations while both of our characters repeatedly jumped off the railing of the tower. Romantic isn’t it?
One day, while I was working, Snipe texts me and says he’s in the area. So I told him why not visit me. I thought I knew him enough to be almost certain he was not an axe murderer - though the thought lingered in my mind.
“You’re ugly” was the first words he said to me IRL, as expected from the biggest, fattest troll that has ever grazed the face of destiny. Now, I wasn’t the prettiest girl in the world, but I was damn certain I had never been called ugly in my life. A lot has happened between the two of us since then. Things that were not video-game related. But, meeting him in such an unconventional way has made me forget about the Cinderella stories and ponder more about saving the universe stories.
It’s been a while since then, and sometimes I feel as though things could have happened so differently. But to this day, I tell him not to sell back his copy of destiny which has since fallen from our busy lives - JK it’s the lack of content- because that’s how we met.
I've never been the girl to believe in fate, but after all this is said and done, I may be open to the idea of Destiny.

2 RepliesOh cool story, congrats! I met my guy off Xbox live too - In fact it was on Left 4 Dead 2 back early 2010. We became best of friends playing online. Months after friendship I finally got the the nerve to ask him where he was & what his real name was. I was so excited to get home from school & drop my backpack on the floor & eagerly run up the stairs & stumble my way into my room to turn the Xbox on. I found out he was an hour away from me, we wanted to meet but didn't know how to approach each other or tell our parents where we were going. Later that summer he moved back to Canada (born & raised) so we stopped talking cause it took awhile for him to settle in & get back on Xbox. 3-4 later he messaged me on Xbox, we began playing again. Then I realized he was special too me, I felt incredibly happy - my heart skipped a beat when he said my name. Then I asked if we can be Facebook friends since we can't text eachother. He agreed & I fell for him even more, I screamed over my headset "OMG YOUR -blam!-IN CUTE or HOT!" & he laughed at me ;___; he said I was "Beautiful for my name." Give you a hint my name is a Spanish word & people usually begin with "que ______." Anyways, we them started to play Halo 3 ODST together & I asked him if we can go on forge mode, he chose Avalanche. Then I wrote out in spawn points "ILYBFF"(I didn't wanna scare him away) kindly asked him not look at my side or land of the map while I went to go get a snack. & what did he do!? He saw it! *heres the good part.* I asked him if he was done with his side, "No not done, wait." Which I did. Couple minutes role on by & he gives me permission to go to his side. Guess what I saw!? He wrote out with snipers & other weapons "I love you too." & HE EVEN MADE A HEART OUT OF BOMBS! <3 & I was stunned, he later explained he came over to my side & he said he felt the same way about me but he thought I would get spooked than him >_>' So 3 days roll on by, I went to California Adventure with my dad, my guy & I talked on Facebook all day there (I have an annual pass so it was fine) however my dad was annoyed I wouldn't put my phone away. After a good day at Disney, I asked if we can stay longer to watch the world of color. As of 8/9pm ish on September 30, 2010 right before the show started my guy said. "Listen, I know this might sound insane but I Love you ______ _______ (my full name he said.)" & he said he was thankful & happy to meet a girl like me. He said he appreciated I attempted to be there when he was upset & I cared about him a lot. He appreciated our friendship & wanted something more. He asked me to be his girlfriend! & the show began! I was incredibly happy that night! I felt like I had a major adrenaline rush! My face lit up & I felt so alive. It was honestly perfect, after 3 months of dating. He came to California on his birthday & since my place is headed out to LA met each other. It was cold that night, I met his mom & brother, while he met my parents, brother, sister, uncle & grandma. He stayed the weekend with me, we watched Scott Pilgrim on my Xbox & he was in my room with me. Than he told me "Hey what's that!?" Pointing his finger out the bedroom door, & I said. "what is it? There's nothing." I turned back & he kissed me. 5 years later & we are together & he currently lives with me. However distance was hard especially with trust issues but I'm happy I met him :)
