I like how they're incorporating more EU elements within the games. Except if it's anything like Halo 4, they won't even bother attempting to explain it for people who didn't read every novel or comic.
Looks like there's gonna be a metric shit ton of required reading for Halo 5 if you want to understand what's going on. It's like a -blam!-ing project.

Actually, the only essential reading to understand what's going on in Halo 5, as in reading that is necessary to understand what's going on, would be Escalation - and even then, not all the arcs are totally relevant. You could read The Next 72 Hours and the Janus Key/Absolute Record arc, and you'd pretty much be up to speed. Broken Circle and New Blood have loose ties to the current fiction in Halo 5, but none of them are necessary reading to understand what's going on (at least, as far as we know). To be honest though, anybody who doesn't know about Blue Team at this point probably isn't very interested in the story.

Just watch halo follower or ready up live, I'm pretty sure they'll will tell anyone about blue team or the lore in at least 8 min

Halo Canon actually gets his facts right. Chris from Halo Follower is a joke.
