GRIMOIRE HUNTING TIPS AND TRICKS

So I recently completed all of my pve grimoire.... on to the dreaded cruicible. Thought I would make this thread to post any tips or shortcuts that I have learned. First thing I would recommend is to check out what you are missing at destinystatus.com (if destinystatus.com is down, destinytracker.com works as well) - destinyghosthunter.com helps track which dead ghosts you have or need. (I just learned myself that you can obtain a few HoW ghosts by glitching into certain areas... if anyone has a good link for this I'll post it here. Also, do this at your own risk. There is potential for consequences for getting into these areas.) - Hydras/Ogres will not count if they have a yellow health bar, only red ones. (This most likely goes for all enemy types, but I only had to complete these 2) - I farmed the end of the shrine of oryx mission on normal for ogres. Get to the tunnel at the end, when you hear the ogre roar, snipe him (going ahead too far will initiate a checkpoint) then turn and jump off the cliff. Rinse and repeat. - I went to mars on patrol for hydras. Head to the black garden portal. Take out the hydra and minotaurs that spawn there, wait about 20 seconds and they will respawn. Sitting on the cliff with an icebreaker works well. Apparently there is a hydra near the end of the black garden mission that you can kill and wipe as well. - If others are coming around in patrol and ruining your hydra party, the archon priest strike on normal has 6 hydras throughout it. It will also count towards your strike completions. - I highlighted normal above because ROC strikes do not count towards your strike completions for some strange reason. Oddly enough, completing any normal difficulty strike counts as 3. So take advantage of this before it is fixed. *I've been told it only counts as 3 if you have a full fireteam. **By normal strikes, I mean actually selecting a strike from a planet, not a playlist. - You only have to do Crota or Atheon to count for a raid completion, not the whole raid. It can also be done numerous times a week. If you are good with the sword, advertise it on lfg and you should have 50 completions in no time. - Patrol VIP kills were the most tedious for me. This is the bounty symbol that looks like a circle with a star in the middle. 250 is alot. I liked earth the best, starting zone, the divide, rocketyard, then orbit. I found that sometimes if you grab a non-vip bounty and then abandon it right away, one of the others will change to a vip. This was random though. Also, recruiting another guardian or two to help out really speeds things up. - If you have any weapon you need to get kills with (it was pulse rifles for me), combine this with your patrol vip hunt or your strikes so you can get 2 birds stoned at once. - You will need a certain amount of pve/pvp kills with each class, so if you have one favourite master race, time to switch it up! - RNG will play a bit of a role as certain exotic weapons are needed for their g-cards. *I guess this only counts for unlocking their cards, there are no grimoire points awarded for exotics. - As far as pvp grimoire goes, pretty sure you will need a thorn, hawkmoon, the last word or any type of shotgun. I know I will anyways. I will add more as I think of them, please add any below or if there is a better method than what I have listed and I will update the OP. Grind away fellow addicts! Also just discovered that if you comment or bump this thread, you will get an extra 5 grimoire! Who knew? ;)
