Cabal on Mars just a coincidence? Vex on Venus a coincidence?

Is it just a coincidence that the Cabal, (the most militarized species we encounter in destiny) has made its mark on Mars (the planet named after the Roman God of war)? I checked the other planets to find similarities between the species that inhabit them and the gods that represent that planet. The only other similarity I could find was quite vague and rather farfetched. It was between the roman God Venus and the vex. Although Venus was the God of romance and love, One of her symbols were roses, and sweetly scented flowers (both of which can be found in the black garden). What this reminded me of instantly was the grimoire card that talks of the black garden, (home of the vex, but not on Venus) and the rose that cuts the finger of a being who is inside of the garden. I believe it's a ghost memory card. I don't remember though. Anyway, it seems really farfetched but I thought it was interesting. Tell me what us think. Note: I didn't find a correlation between the goddess Luna and the thrall. Mainly because Luna literally represented the moon and nothing else, so it didn't make much sense to me.

  • We know this game has awesome story stuff when we search really hard, such a shame it is not that fleshed out! But it is there, so if Bungie wants and has the time they can really make Destiny shine.

  • Same coincidence on why we found the traveller on Mars? It wasn't trying to find us. It was looking for the black garden.

        • I would think the similarity between Vex and Venus isn't in the Black Garden. I would think it is in the innate beauty of the Vex. Think about it. The Cabal under their armor look like mole rats. The Fallen are tattered and scarred. The Hive look like skeletons. But the Vex? They are sleek, well-kept machines. They are the most aesthetically pleasing of all the races. So, I think, if there is a connection, it is that Venus was beautiful and the Vex are beautiful. Also, as to the Hive, the reason they are on the moon symbolically might be to do with a few things: 1) The moon is very closely tied to the night. The night is often symbolic of death. 2) The moon is the only celestial body in the game to still be barren. (Mars has shrubs, Venus jungles, Earth is Earth.) 3) The Hive are named in a Christian European sense. (Acolyte, Knight, Wizard, Ogre, Thrall.) Cabal/Vex are named in a Roman sense. Perhaps the symbolism is Christian-based rather than Roman-based. Also, on the note of coincidence, do you think it is coincidence that the Vex (named after Roman monsters) fight the Cabal (named after Roman soldiers?)

          • It's odd how Mars is supposedly the Cabal's home planet, yet they have to wear oxygen masks to survive.

            • I think you're right about the cabal. I mean, I see no obvious relation to other planets/species. Bungie really nailed the Mars theme. The music is spot on (seriously, Holst could have taken a cue). The Cabal really tie in well with it.
