Maybe the stranger is working for toland. She says "how many?" Also, she says "don't let them find you" maybe some thrall were searching for him in the abyss and discovered him

Maybe she works for Osiris, since she does the Vex teleport/phase thing. And when she said that maybe she was talking to the two dead bodies in the secret room on Mercury who just happened to be surrounded by Vex?! The ship is there, still running, and they went and hid in the room.

Was thinking to myself here, she does says she's not forged in light, that means she doesn't trust The Traveler, who else do we know that doesn't trust it? Osiris. Who is exiled (hidden?) somewhere. And she talks to somebody about "don't let them find you". I think you really are into something big here

i think you may be on to something here... another thing is that the strangers rifle looks an awful lot like fate of all fools. maybe it upgrades in a similar way the necrochasm is obtained. maybe when you visit mercury have the strangers rife equipped when you go and while you open the chest? idk just brainstorming

i have argued that the stranger is a hunter, but i have been told the shes not a hunter titan or warlock. she does say that she is not a guardian, she was not forged in the light
