1 rank up all factions, vanguard and crucible to get packages, over and over.
2 Right before launch, you'll want all of them very close to leveling up. Within one patrol is best. Just switch factions between missions.
3 Don't open your packages yet. The xp will help you level your new gear.
4 Collect ,complete and hold onto all 5000 pt bounties. Don't use them until youre wearing your new gear.
5 max your crucible and vanguard marks.
6 Don't use your commendations unless you need to. If you have a stack of them, it could get you a package or two, with new gear.
7 Grab any vendor gear you've been looking at early, as it could change this time. Make sure to max your marks again.
8 Level up everything. It doesn't look like we have to start over this time.
9. Farm glimmer. You'll need a lot of it. You can save the ax beads and other items worth glimmer in your vault to cash in later, or simply wait and sell your shards. We may not need as much as TDB, because our exotics won't start over.
10 Save some upgrade materials for your new gear.
Once the dlc drops, you run a couple of patrols to get your new packages and burn your commendations. You see what you get and use marks to buy the rest. Then, you open your old packages and claim the bounties you have to level your new gear. This should give you a slight edge on leveling up.
If you're going for materials, you could save your packages from public events. They give motes, shards and energies. Most ppl have way too many of these, so, I don't recommend it.
I'm not going to do any of this
So we have about 21 days to grind
-
Public event packages give 2500 xp per package, that's the real reason to hold onto them, I have 20 on each character, 60 Total = 150,000 xp

HOW Prep: 1) try to sell the game to Gamestop but get denied b/c their supply of the game is too high. 2) try to sell game on ebay but realize people are only willing to pay $8. 3) Try to sell entire destiny account for my 3 level 30+, but realize accounts are worth less than $100 now so it's not worth my time. 4) laugh that people still play this game. 5) laugh that people are pre-grinding before they have to grind new boring quests in HoW. 6) point and laugh that this game has two raids, one good but pointless and the other boring and the worst raid of any game that has raids. 7) bang head against a wall when realizing this unlock won't even include a raid. 8) wait for bungie to release comet, when they apologize for screwing up the game and promise it won't happen again..."just buy comet and we'll never lie again". 9) watch no one buy comet b/c Destiny sucked and no one trusts Bungie anymore. 10) watch Destiny's 10-year plan evaporate, and Bungie try to save themselves by announcing "Destiny II" in hopes that people ignore how bad and incomplete the original fraudfest was.

Edited by TheGodAmongMen: 4/27/2015 2:23:37 PMMost important thing is: Do the story first on each character to unlock the nightfall. Then do the nightfall ASAP, the rep bonus should apply to the commendations. Currently working on getting my factions to just before a level -_-. after that its all about getting my crucible marks up to max, my van marks will be there from heroics and nightfalls alone so no big deal.
-
Or just play the game and rank up as it comes, Don't get why everyone is in such a rush, no wonder your all moaning there isn't enough to do

I agree with storing glimmer and getting each faction close to ranking up, but I think everyone will be a 32 those first couple weeks to a month waiting to get enough etherling light to rank up their current gear or the new vendor gear. It will be a slow progression from 32 to 33 and then finally 34 depending on the drop rate of EL.
-
Good post. There is so many things to do, and not enough time. Not including leveling up 2 other characters like I am before the DLC drops. What should I focus on first?
-
Save your cryptarch packages too...they will give u lots of rare and some legendary engrams
-
Packages from public events give xp too so they are worth keeping to help upgrade gear.
-
That takes the fun out of it
-
We probably want to use those commendations towards new factions more than anything else, I don't see why people would want to use them to level up old factions of he new gear will most likely benefit the new game modes more Han the old stuff. I'm just hoping that the vendors will be using vanguard marks and not just crucible marks, I'm sure the trials vendor will use crucible marks tho
-
So I probably shouldn't hang on to any faction packages because I'll lose the commendations hey provide if I cash them out on the 19th?
-
Question: I have my titan sitting at 30 but I can make it 32 right now. I was concerned about new gear possibilities and wasted shards for HoW. Should I put the Titan at 32 right now? Thanks.

Edited by il DOWN li: 4/27/2015 2:32:34 PMI've had all this done for like 2 months now. I didn't even mean too. I started putting house banners and the like in my vault just so I could cash in some engrams. Glimmers been capped as long as I can remmeber. If you feel like you need to buy something for whatever reason but don't have anything to buy this is the one time I'll recommend buying heavy from the gunsmith. You will always be able to use it and it's better than constantly breaking down cheap weapons and armor and not getting any glimmer as rewards. I hate to be wasteful even in the game.
-
Buy shit bucket* Should be #1 on list.
-
The grind is real, kinda makes me more excited though
-
Edited by BlxckMass SMF: 4/27/2015 1:57:44 PMYou do realize all gear that will be sold will get you to 32 not 33. So the only reason to do that is for weapons
-
Add in the 200 glimmer consumables. Store them in the vault.
-
You should not prepare for HoW, look at how stale destiny is now after TDB, do you want that to happen again in a month?
-
There will be lots of bounties with how , TDB and vanguard and crucible so no issue there . No need to store packages as you want commendations to save for xp. Save cryptarch and have maxed out marks on each character . With 3 weeks to go , might as well spunk everything on materials and build up vanguard marks again.
-
You are suggesting keeping packages for just XP gain, and commendations, correct?
-
Buying new gear and leveling is unnessecary for people with full raid gear already maxed out
-
I recommend doing reef missions and nightfall for exp bonus before cashing in stuff for exp, that way you maximize your exp gains and rewards.
