Raid Noobs...
So I really need to know if this community is starting to become a bunch of elitist shitholes, or I am talking to the wrong people. As a raid virgin, ABSOLUTELY no one wants to deal with trying to run a raid with me (even though I've seen them both done many times and will do whatever you tell me to, even if it's to jump off a ledge), and teach me the ropes. So my questions to you are ,
1) would you work with a raid virgin/noob/any other fancy names you have for them?
2) if not, why the hell not?
3) how hard can it be to tell someone to do something, especially if they've seen it before?
Comment below and help me understand the what the problem is.
Edit1: I really appreciate all the support guys, it's refreshing to know that the community hasn't devolved and there are lots of great people around.
I should have mentioned that I am on 360 (I know I wish I could upgrade), but either way I really appreciate everyone who wants to help. If you want to send a friend request my way then feel free, and again I thank you all for the support.
Edit2: I'm amazed at how many good people are out there, and even if we are on different consoles I really appreciate that you took the time to say something. Maybe someone else will notice and you can help them!

Edit3: NO LONGER A (raid) VIRGIN!!! Thanks to help from you guys on the forum I was able to find a really good group of people and ran both VoG and CE! I appreciate all the help guys!
Edit4: If you are a raid noob and need some help, post your level, class, and console! Maybe some one will help you through like they helped me! If you want to help out, post your info and someone can find you! Good luck guardians, and thanks for keeping Destiny great!

I feel you man. I stopped doing vog entirely because on my third run it was all assholes that said i was doing something wrong, but wouldn't tell me what it was. Luckily I'm decent on the crota raid so I have no trouble with that one. Don't have even one of the vog weapons, just 2 pieces of armor and a timebreaker.

We were all there once. No one ever just jumped into Raid and knew what they were doing. My first time few times in VoG and CE were train wrecks, but luckily I had joined up with a patient groups who taught me the ropes. I am always down to run Raids with new people. It may take more time, it can be frustrating, and people are flawed(hell I know I am). If anyone would like to run Raids with me just send me a message on xbone.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Multiplayer. I didn't have a single friend on PSN til Destiny. I have been a gamer for years. Always done it for fun. And fun only. Once I started Destiny and the only way I found you can get to 32 was with the help from others is when my friend list exploded. Of course. The word "friend" is used loosely. If I play a game I like to play to its fullest capacity. Quitting on Destiny at 31was like buying a game and not finishing. Im looking forward to HOW in hopes that they may make matchmaking a bit easier for those that cant get a group together just to complete the game. I am willing to help anyone any time. I just like to play. But found out quick there are just a bunch of a-holes out there with a stick up their ass. But luckily the gaming world is big enough you can weed those crap heads out. Some peeps just take it way to seriously. Anyways good luck.

8 RepliesDude, I will 100% help you out and explain things along the way as long as you don't try to charge headfirst into the fray and die when I'm trying to explain. That, and if your fire team is rude and making jabs at you, I will leave and take you with me and find another team who will not treat you like crap. Just because you're a noob doesn't mean you're bad, you just have to learn and experience things yourself. Hell, I'd let you punch a Gorgon just to make you see what happens and then kill it for you to get that Grimoire card. I'm on Xbox one and I would love to help you. I have many under my wing so one more is nothing. :)

3 RepliesI agree and can definitely sympathize, I just got my one 2 months ago got my titan to 30 and have only found two people willing to help with raids. Most of my friends no longer play destiny so it's hard to arrange raids sometimes, and yes I have used raid finders but as soon as they realize I only have two legendary weapons and no exotic weapons I am usually booted. Would be nice to find more people willing to teach me the ropes I'll listen to anything. If you are on the one add me I'd be more than happy to learn with you!

We all were new to the raid once....people forget to give back and help out. I run with noobs as long as they LISTEN TO DIRECTION! That's the biggest issue I have. If you're on the Xbone look me up......kanee I'm working on my sword bearer skills....I'll help out how I can. I have a guy on PS4....Midway tech

7 RepliesPeople like you are funny 1 you're weapons are terrible 2 you're too lazy to even upgrade your terrible weapons I'm not helping anyone who is too lazy to put time into being prepared to raid. You just got some crap rare weapons and said okay now I want to raid. When I did my first raid ever I had all maxed legendaries and Gjallarhorn. The problem isn't others, it's you being too lazy to grind for better weapons. With your weapons you would be useless while being told what to do. Do yourself a favor, stop feeling sorry for yourself, and better prepare yourself. Raiding will be more enjoyable for you.

I would say give it some more time to get better equipment. Make sure you get all weapon slots up to legendary as well. Those with blue weapons tend to be ineffective in raids

I'd say your Warlock is deffo ready for Normal VoG and Normal Crota. Hard VoG... Yeah, especially if thats a void shotty (didnt look too closely) and if you could maybe land a better gun for your heavy slot... You'd struggle a bit but you'd be ok. Hard Crota? Not yet young padawan. Even if you run the normal raids, you get a shot at some sweet guns; VoC, Corrective Measure, Swordbreaker and Black Hammer spring readily to mind. Hard VoG would give you a chance at Fatebringer and the Mythoclast. I'd help you but Im on XB1 :(

Just took 3 raid noobs through VoG today. One guy got fatebringer, vex, red death, vision of confluence, chest, gloves and boots

I would play with raid noobs, but they have a bad habit of not saying it's their 1st time and dying on every part and everyone else pulling the weight

If by the 3rd wipe on the same fight you have either A made absolutely no progress towards doing the part assigned to you or B refuse to listen to advice given by other raid goers or have been a whiny douche then I kick the noob out. Edit: just to be clear I don't mean 3 wipes in general shit happens I mean 3 wipes landed solely on the head of the noon in question without any progress. Example being don't pick up relic on a the on then grabs it every time he goes into the portal. That kinda stupid can't be fixed.

I'll go with new players, but I'm not a huge Raid guy myself, so I would definitely limit the number of new players I take per game. It's easiest to explain and still complete when there's only one or two rookies. Also, the one or two player(s) then get some experience in how to complete the raid smoothly. I've tried VoG with 4 newbies and it was complete hell trying to get everyone to understand what to do. Everyone left that game frustrated.
