So I really need to know if this community is starting to become a bunch of elitist shitholes, or I am talking to the wrong people. As a raid virgin, ABSOLUTELY no one wants to deal with trying to run a raid with me (even though I've seen them both done many times and will do whatever you tell me to, even if it's to jump off a ledge), and teach me the ropes. So my questions to you are ,
1) would you work with a raid virgin/noob/any other fancy names you have for them?
2) if not, why the hell not?
3) how hard can it be to tell someone to do something, especially if they've seen it before?
Comment below and help me understand the what the problem is.
Edit1: I really appreciate all the support guys, it's refreshing to know that the community hasn't devolved and there are lots of great people around.
I should have mentioned that I am on 360 (I know I wish I could upgrade), but either way I really appreciate everyone who wants to help. If you want to send a friend request my way then feel free, and again I thank you all for the support.
Edit2: I'm amazed at how many good people are out there, and even if we are on different consoles I really appreciate that you took the time to say something. Maybe someone else will notice and you can help them!
I've sent some friend requests to all those on the 360, but if I missed you then feel free to send me one. Thanks to all!
Edit3: NO LONGER A (raid) VIRGIN!!! Thanks to help from you guys on the forum I was able to find a really good group of people and ran both VoG and CE! I appreciate all the help guys!
Edit4: If you are a raid noob and need some help, post your level, class, and console! Maybe some one will help you through like they helped me! If you want to help out, post your info and someone can find you! Good luck guardians, and thanks for keeping Destiny great!

I feel u bruh. If ur on Xbox one, I'll do stuff with u cause nobody does with me to. Elitist -blam!-ers
-
There's plenty of people on here who will accept a "noob". Don't feel so discouraged
-
If you really think that go to destiny Sherpas
-
You just meet the wrong people I'm afraid. I mostly make groups on destinylfg with randoms. When someone asks to join without experience I'm ok with that. What is not ok is a guardian who does not have experience and lies about it. That player drags the whole team down.

Out ps4 clan normally runs a few raids a week with "raid virgins" to help them out! It's best to only have a couple veterans though. When I mean "it's best" I mean it will be more enjoyable because you'll have to work together with the other raid noobs/virgins and not be carried through the raids! Destiny is an experience, and the raids are no different! You should enjoy the raid! And be frustrated at times due countless wipes that may not be your fault at all! But being carried through a raid is no way to experience it for the first time.. I hope you enjoy your first raid my friend

Just join a group from destiny tracker?
-
1. Of course, the raids are easy 2. N/a 3. It's not hard at all. If your on ps4 add me Psn: day-tr1pper-27

Most people in game are decent people but the idiots are the most vocal. I can only imagine that the people who specify level, gear etc. are probably not very good and need carrying themselves, or they are no longer having fun playing a game with others and just want to farm the raid for what they need as quickly as possible? I'm sure you will get help you just need to find the right people!

Go to LFG. Look for someone wanting to start fresh. Most groups have at least 1 31 or 32. Say you don't have a mic on there. By not having a mic they will tell you where to go.
-
There are only four in our group and we run both Crota and VOG every week and are always happy to take newbies along. Xbox one. We are all Brits GMT and are usualy on around 8:30ish. GT as above if you would like z helping hand. Oh and we have a rule on Crota, everyone runs Sword no matter your experience. 3 strikes and out is the rule.
-
Look at your legend. Not a chance in hell
-
I'd totally help if they're willing to work hard and listen.
-
Lol I'm fine with it bro if you want I'll help you if you're on ps4 :)
-
Me and my clan help out new guys all the time. Recently, 2 new guys joined at 27 and we carried them through night falls and Crota normal. So they can get gear and get the hang of them. Now they are at 30 on the way to 31 and doing very well.
-
Yeah. Unfortunately the problem with raid newbs is a decent portion of them don't outrught admit they have no idea what they're doing, try to play it off (you give yourselves away, just know that) or just don't bother trying to follow directions/pay attention. Had one raid newb do the exact opposite of what everyone else was telling him to do. We explained it to him several times, hell someone event sent directions in a msg but the guy just did not pay attention nor care to follow directions.
-
I'm totally fine with helping people that are new to the raids. Anyone on PS4 feel free to add me and mention the forums. Always looking for a couple extra guardians to fill out our fireteam.
-
If you're on Ps4, hit me up. I enjoy pulling people through VoG or CE for the first time, it's a great way to pass some time before HoW comes out.
-
If you're on xbox one, I'd help you through, especially VoG. Haven't done CE that much, but it's refreshing to take new people through.
-
Don't tell them you're a raid virgin then! I didn't my first time. I didn't even have a mic.
-
Edited by Heathen_Nature: 4/26/2015 6:28:15 PMSome people just don't want to teach noobs how to do raids and im not really sure why, i mean we we're all noobs once too
-
If it's on normal I'll help/teach But a lot of players skip normal and go straight to hard I won't help/teach in hard mode unless you're upfront and say you are new to the raid
-
If it's early enough in the day and they are up front with the fact that they haven't done a raid yet, I don't mind explaining things and taking time. If it's 12am and you're going to wait until after 10 wipes to say "I've never done this", I'm gonna get pissed off. For anyone who hasn't had their chance to complete a raid, I would suggest they make friends first or join a friendly clan of people willing to help out.
-
Some ppl are just dbags. I've played the raids enough times to know what to do and when to do it. But every now and then I still get stuck with a group who thinks they are better than everyone . Hit me up if you want to raid on Xbox 1 I will be glad to run through with you
-
If you're on 360 I'll take you through and teach you everything on both raids tuesday
-
I helped someone yesterday and at the end he was blade dancing atheon an didnt die during times vengeance
-
Depending on your console, I'll raid with you. I mainly play with my clan mates, but I think they wouldn't mind helping someone out. But anyways, if you play on Xbox one, my gamertag is GameNerd300
