Raid Noobs...
So I really need to know if this community is starting to become a bunch of elitist shitholes, or I am talking to the wrong people. As a raid virgin, ABSOLUTELY no one wants to deal with trying to run a raid with me (even though I've seen them both done many times and will do whatever you tell me to, even if it's to jump off a ledge), and teach me the ropes. So my questions to you are ,
1) would you work with a raid virgin/noob/any other fancy names you have for them?
2) if not, why the hell not?
3) how hard can it be to tell someone to do something, especially if they've seen it before?
Comment below and help me understand the what the problem is.
Edit1: I really appreciate all the support guys, it's refreshing to know that the community hasn't devolved and there are lots of great people around.
I should have mentioned that I am on 360 (I know I wish I could upgrade), but either way I really appreciate everyone who wants to help. If you want to send a friend request my way then feel free, and again I thank you all for the support.
Edit2: I'm amazed at how many good people are out there, and even if we are on different consoles I really appreciate that you took the time to say something. Maybe someone else will notice and you can help them!

Edit3: NO LONGER A (raid) VIRGIN!!! Thanks to help from you guys on the forum I was able to find a really good group of people and ran both VoG and CE! I appreciate all the help guys!
Edit4: If you are a raid noob and need some help, post your level, class, and console! Maybe some one will help you through like they helped me! If you want to help out, post your info and someone can find you! Good luck guardians, and thanks for keeping Destiny great!

2 RepliesPeople are dumb for not wanting to take new players. Everyone was new at some point. Some people either forgot that or just are incapable of teaching others. With that being said, just post on Lfg that you are new to raids and are looking for some help, I remember a few groups last night looking for 3+ newbies to show them the ropes. Most people are ok with a new raider as long as you are up front about it.

I take new people almost every time as me and my two buddies can easily pretty much do either raid ourselves with one more half decent person. I don't mind explaining what is going on to new people easier and it makes me happy when they get something they want. I will not however, do everything for them and give them handouts. I expect them to do every part with me and I only do hard modes anyways anymore. I also expect them to have decent weapons. Unlike yours. Sorry but it's true.

I waited until December before I started raiding. My best advice for a smoother ride is to wait until you have at least an ice breaker. Then the raids just seem to go easier

Biggest advice I can put out there is to do normal VoG before anything. Nothing pisses people off as much as "raid virgins" trying their first run on hard mode. Doesn't matter if you are level 30+ if you don't know the mechanics. Sorry to see you're on 360 otherwise I would help you out.

4 RepliesDepending on how 'coach able' you are i would help If you know ABOUT what you are doing, and you are all ears to listen and understand, then i would help you If you think you know everything and end up dying 80% of the time i probably wouldnt help you Its the same thing in sports. Coaches want kids who are coach able. They aren't looking for players who know everything they look for kids with talent and are willing to listen to pros trying to help them out

I don't mind brining new people through, but when their weapons are just that weak I would have to say no. Either focus on getting new weapons, i.e. grind out Vanguard marks and rep to get new gear, grind through the Crucible to get new gear, Iron Banner, etc.

6 RepliesMost people just want to get the raid over with and don't like to teach. When it comes to CE just pretend like you know what you're doing, usually someone will be guiding everyone through the raid and telling people what to do anyways. Doing Vog you might have a bit of a harder time because it requires more team work. Pretty much just don't tell anyone that you are a noob to raids, just go into it and listen.

Ive run both raids plenty of times with inexperienced players, unfortunately I barely raid myself anymore but there are people out there who are willing to help others experience the best part of the game
