People who are writing this off as trivial don't see the point. It's never okay to tell anyone to kill themselves. And for all the people who are saying "don't be sensitive" you're using yourself as model of behavior irrespective of others' sensibilities. Someone in another thread told me some ridiculous shit that I was "forcing my activism on others". When the irony is that when saying things like this you're forcing this model of yourself onto others (particularly those who have suicidal tendencies as a result of psychoses). Edit: added parenthetical last part. Edit2:
Here: http://www.twitch.tv/triplewrecktv/v/4308534 ~9:45 streamer confronts troll "Billy". A few minutes later streamer says to this person that they "shouldn't be alive". ~9:58 is when he says "kill yourself" to this person. ~10:10 streamer says "I don't feed trolls. I end their existence.... <pause> That's not what I live to do. But I enjoy doing it. <pause> Feels good man."
• His point is, some people are that sensitive. Moral of the story, if you were gaming and said that to someone whose unstable and that put them over the edge. Could you live with yourself? It's pretty easy to stop saying insensitive things, it's impossible to get over the guilt that your words caused a suicide. Think ppl...

  • It wouldn't bother me one bit if I said that to someone in response to what they said, then they went and committed suicide.

  • Exactly, if you want to be a dick I'll be a dick right back. People are acting like this troll gives a shit about what someone says about him. He doesn't deserve to be White Knighted for whatsoever

  • Some people are sick and enjoy the idea that someone might kill themselves because of their actions. Others live in adolescent ignorance and are incapable of understanding the things they do and say have consequences. One way or another these attitudes will come back to bite them one day.

  • If they are psychologically that messed up where they are suicidal, then stop trying to crap on others streams. Yes, suicide is nothing to joke about. But coddling idiots is getting ridiculous. If the kid is suicidal and is getting on a game or twitch and bashing others, then there is a serious failure at home to start and your banning the guy that told him to go pound sand is not going to fix anything. If he is that close to the edge that some guy telling him to go kill himself because he was a complete douchebag, then there are much greater problems than what was said. So get off your high horse and deal with it. Stop trying to normalize a psychotic behavior. It's not and the dude should get help if it is really that bad. There is nothing you can do about it. If you really cared you would start the Hugs for Gamers who can't handle people treating them bad in return for being douchbags awareness group.

  • The protest is that way ---> Don't forget your thick rimmed glasses!! They pair so well with your hipster beard. How else will people know your an activist?? Seriously man it's a game, and the guy he said it to is a troll. You think it mattered to him?? He likes the negative attention. Also people do need to learn to be a little more thick skinned. Jesus we can't handle anything nowadays. Life is hard. Get over it. People are always going to say hurtful things. If you don't get conditioned to it then it's gonna be a long bumpy ride. If you spend your entire life in a bubble and your immune system never has to work. The moment you step out of the bubble you are going to catch the common -blam!-ing cold and die.

Read my edit. I'm not referring to the sensitivity of just anyone. What I heard him say on stream was pretty fucked up. I wouldn't want someone like my brother--who suffers from psychotic depressive episodes--to hear that (regardless of who it's directed at.) I may never truly understand what someone like my brother goes through. But I can at least be empathetic and mindful of the toxic language that gets flagrantly thrown around. And, you're right. Hurtful things will be said but this streamer is a moderately successful community figure. I'm not saying he shouldn't have responded negatively to the troll. But he could have said anything else. It's one thing to encourage someone to ignore these things but to use it as a justification for this streamer's actions? No.

  • I disagree. Why make ourselves so frail?? We didn't get here by trying to make opposing forces weaker. We evolved and continued to improve. It's natural. We will never grow when confined by bubble wrap. Look up wolfs law. When a bone is damaged in minor fashion it will heal harder and stronger. The same is true for emotional stability. If you spend your life in the perfect world never getting insulted or ridiculed then what happens when you finally do? You get torn to shreds. You haven't built up a resistance. You're expectations are wildly unrealistic. We will never live in that perfect society. Human beings are not wired that way. I understand what you want and it's admirable but that's a fantasy world, and in trying to obtain that it would cause irreparable harm. How about we instead put our efforts into giving people confidence in themselves. Raise awareness about self-esteem? Teach the true value of self worth while keeping the distance of arrogance. Teach empathy. If you focus on the negative then you put it in the spotlight. There will always be people who want in that spotlight. Doesn't matter if it's bad publicity. Starve them of attention

I guess the crude social equivalent of Wolff's Law would be Nietzsche's "Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger". Which has been debunked. Look up the "Monster Study" or anything related to the adage I reference. Again this so-called resilience just can't be willed.
Teach the true value of self worth while keeping the distance of arrogance. Teach empathy.
How would anyone effectively do that without also decrying the actions of people who cultivate this negativity? Look at how many people in the comments have said something similar to what I'm saying. Feedback like this reinforces the very thing you're telling me I should do. Now, I don't want anything crazy like him being barred from the tournament. An apology will suffice.

  • You clearly didnt read up on wolfs LAW because that's not at all accurate. Caps are the key btw. You are just one of those people who half reads/listens to only hear what you want because you like to hear yourself talk lol

You are just one of those people who half reads/listens to only hear what you want because you like to hear yourself talk lol
I though this was what you're referring to... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19286413 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolff's_law
Caps are the key btw.
Um, I don't think emphasizing that it's a law makes it any more relevant to the topic: a social problem. I even gave you the benefit of the doubt by steering it back on topic (which I now see you were the one not understanding). Do you understand what we're talking about?
You are just one of those people who half reads/listens to only hear what you want because you like to hear yourself talk lol
If you literally meant that a physically regenerative ability is somehow relevant to a social problem then you're an idiot. No matter if it's a law, axiom, conjecture--you don't know what you're talking about (and clearly you didn't understand anything I was saying). Unless there's some other Wolff's Law that I missed on then I apologize. And, based on your weird reaction, you might possibly be deluded: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect

  • We will clearly never be on the same page. Good luck trying to coddle the world. I disagree with your approach in every fashion and this conversation will only degrade into name calling (already has on your part, bravo). If you can't comprehend my point then it's all moot. Like I said good luck and I'm sure your views will change when you leave college. Realism sets in

  • Well you are definitely pretentious but I don't define hipster as an insult. A little jest is all. Don't be so sensitive ;) just my way of saying I thought your presence was not needed. Hey my opinion was that you seemed like the kinda person who just likes to hear themselves speak. Sorry it was an offense to you. I never directly called you a blatant insult. Like I said, we come from different worlds. I'll never understand how you are so easily rattled by others. I would never be able to care so much about someone's negative words so much that it changes my life. Kinda glad too lol not having a mental break down any time i interact with society is nice. Either way we can end this because I promise you we will never see eye to eye. Have a good life

  • Haha. Those last 2 paragraphs are on point and pretty much sum up how I feel. I was made to feel worthless going through school when I was young and it sucks. But apart of me is glad it happened like this. As you mentioned it made me a little more thicked skinned.

  • You just learn that those people really aren't that important. You got people you love and would rather think about instead of some low life lol bullying is a terrible thing for sure but we are tough creatures. We adapt and become better than what tries to tear us down. Good for you for learning to roll with the punches sir
