Why would you use a kinetic gun?
Why bother? Elemental guns can have the same perks, do the same damage, plus they do added elemental damage.
I find myself wondering what the point is to using guns that do kinetic damage, other than in crucible.

Mida in particular areas when I want the speed, bad juju for getting super back, thorn occasionally if I want a shield to not come back up on a captain or wizard, universal remote on VoG gate and right conflux. I think that's it.

There's no "added elemental damage", burn damage only affects shields inside normal combat. After shield goes down, damage is kinetic. Only in an instance where there is a burn modifier to the activity is there any added damage. So honestly, it goes right back to...it's your game play it as you want. There are no bad guns...only wrong situations and bad rolls.

Because I really only care about elemental damage when it's a burn. Special/heavy weapons do more damage with elemental then elemental primaries. Not to mention special weapons cover the elemental need already. If it's a burn I'd go out of my way to use an elemental primary. Otherise for pve my primary is most of the time timurs lash.

1 ReplyDo you carry a void/fire/arc primaries at all times and switch between them in mission? If not then you might as well be using kinetic weapons. For example WOC won't do you much good in Devils lair, for shields that is.

Because the majority of enemies do not have sheilds in the first place.

If you're asking about why they'd use one in the Destiny storyline idk. With advancements in weaponry through the golden age kinetic weapons should be out dated.

This is the problem with raid primaries with elemental damage. While I enjoy them, I do wish all primary weapons were kinetic. In that way our loadouts would be more diverse, especially going into HoW

Some weapons are used more for their special perks, such as Shoot-to-Loot, Red Death, Mida Multi-Tool or their stopping power - Suros Regime, Last Word etc.
