Perhaps that Gothalion appeals to some. He came across as focused more on wise cracks missing the opportunity to engage in some useful discussion with Bungie's Senior Art Director.
Clearly Gothalion was trying to extract information. But Bungie staff are well trained and require more thoughtful questions from much more experienced people to get answers.
Whilst his fans may disagree, Gothalion missed his opportunity to elicit answers to key Community questions.
Wise cracks are fine if they are witty and result in answers. Unfortunately Gothalion was no match a pair a intelligent and determined interview subjects.

Imo he was told beforehand dos and don'ts so he get to be first to see some stuff before the release Example: did you notice he upgraded his Vex? And he spent some time on collecting ghosts and swapping over materials at the speaker? ...so yea he couldn't ask or do whatever he wanted.
-
Bungie can dodge questions as well as, or better than, most politicians. Look at how hard they dodged when asked if the dlc would have more story than TDB. Could someone else have gotten more info from them? Maybe, but I think they would have simply provided more non answers.
-
Wise cracks? Wise cracks or not he brought up almost every problem the community has

3 RepliesThat Twitch stream was shit-tier, but not because of Gothalion. It was the joke that Bungie is trying to pass off as a DLC. Do I get to finally upgrade my Vision? Sure, after more farming for yet another "special" crafting mat that you have to farm. Seriously; using all of these goddamn crafting mats to arbitrarily increase play time as a weak-ass cover for a severe lack of content is not OK. This DLC is bullshit just like "The Dark Blows". I can't believe people are buying into this bullshit...
-
Gothalion is pretty annoying and borderlands show boy. Everybody wants a piece of that pew die pie it seems
-
I am not a fan of goth but I thought he did a good job on the stream.
-
He did ask some questions that had those other two on their heels and I'm not even a fan of his and I was impressed
-
I agree, didn't like him. Would have much rather seen Holtzman from Planet Destiny in his spot.
-
2 RepliesI get why you feel that that way, but having watched a bunch of tubers and twitchers I think Goth was just doing his best to satisfy the chat stream, like always. Even if he had asked all of the questions you think he should, wouldn't mean that they would have been answered. Like when he asked about the bounty Bot, Deej dodged the question, but it was later reviewed by BYF that we will be able to take and turn in the same bounties on both locations. If anything Gothalion is a symbol of this community and that is why he was chosen first. For most people, the most obnoxious broadcasters are what we all are like. Just look at the page views.

They do so much Pho Goth. Kinda cool they include him after killing him so much... /whistles

1 ReplyI was totally on his side. He was asking the question we've all been asking for ages. He asked about more raids, third subclass, ghost shells, resets, xur. I think he was the only one trying to give useful info
-
Lol he was the only one actually saying something funny in this stream .. Plus many of the conclusions like " we dont need Xur anymore for the exotic upgrades " or " the reef is open to non dlc owners " came because of his observations.. And the hive distruptor perk on black hammer was his finding.. He was trying to get some extra information because ppl in the chat were asking and the chat was where most of his questions come from.. Plus i laughed so hard when Deej was trying to be serious while Gothalion was finding dead ghosts in the Reef ..
-
Nah he did good mate that's your opinion. I stand with the majority on this, he gave some good questions and bungie Ignored them or gave a weird answer made of half truths.
-
You realize he asked the exact questions ur talking about but under the guiss of playful banter and got as much information of them as he possible could and probably was told much much more than he can say because of a none disclosure contract
-
4 RepliesI disagree, he actually had the guts to jab at them in regards to their shortcomings. I hate how when everyone is asked at the end of the community focus "what could destiny do different?" and no one says anything productive. Even Goth didn't when he was the focus. But this time he did. I didn't watch the whole thing yet but the 10 min or so that I did, he asked things I would've asked and pointed out flaws in the existing game to see if they're going to repeat their mistakes. He knows Bungie burned us in a lot of ways and he feels the game should grow and learn from it. I'd rather watch someone making light of the release and grilling them with community issues than watching some fanboy orgasming over the new content. I'll agree that his personality isn't for everyone, though. But I enjoy watching his streams with Broman since they keep it fun.
-
I somewhat agree and disagree. I disagree because I think Bungie needed to hear that shit in person instead of acting like they're reading our concerns. But I agree because I can't stand Gothalian or his fans. The only person worse than him is MorninAfterKill
-
8 RepliesWho is that guy? He was pretty annoying. And obviously trying so hard...but can't blame him being on camera and all. Wish I could get some behind the scenes chatting with the staff. Man oh man
-
U misunderstood then....
-
Goth is wielding a pretty big secret man. He was about to explode at the end there trying to slip in some trials deets. DeeJ practically said 'shut up your highness' I laughed so hard as he was running around finding ghosts though, it was making DeeJ a little mad. "Stop it!"
-
That guy is a -blam!-ing legend dude, I lost my shit when he made that Sanic comment. He was the reason the stream was even interesting
-
I liked what I saw. The whole DLC seems to be a product of community feedback. I also like how some of the community's criticism came up and Deej handled it well. I'm actually excited, now.
-
2 RepliesDeej is a public relations expert. You are not going to get any information out of him that he isn't willing to reveal. Which is why he dodged/deflected a number of questions, and outright stonewalled two. This was a Bungie PR event, not an interview.
-
Goth, asked them a simple but "complex" question which is "will the story and lore will be better than the Dark below DLC?".....They fumbled there and I'm a tad bit worried.
-
Ya I dont know if it was him but the 3 of them seemed kind of awkward with his jokes.
-
Goth was great. OP is a tool.
-
4 RepliesAgreed. His humor was sophmoric at best and caused quite a few awkward pauses. The dev clearly didn't like him and this is perhaps why he was so quiet during the stream. Would have much rather heard the dev talk more and less from a youtuber pandering to the lowest common denominator. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the meeting the next day for the after action review of the live stream.... Ummm, who thought bring this guy in was a good idea? Please don't waste the coming live streams with forum banter. I am quite sure Bungie has heard all the Nechrochasm jokes etc... We don't need the rehash. Get a couple devs in that like each other so they can talk about their process.
